Sorry Peter, but I disagree. You had to scroll up or down before NextGen and the scrolling behavior is exactly the same as it was before in Original Gen and behaves in exactly the same way as it was before, except the EPG on screen flicks one channel up or one down when one hits the top or bottom. It is not a barrier to using the EPG as one did before. You may not like the aesthetics of it, but in reality it is exactly the same as before.
Thats a point no one has so far picked up on or have just chosen to ignore. All the posters on here want to do is criticise, criticise, criticise. I don't have a problem with it.
I'm now happy with the disagree icon, because its gone.

I didn't like it at first, it does take a bit of getting used to, but I'm so used to it now it's not a problem for me anymore.
Now, the blue rubbish at the bottom of the screen, I'd be very happy to see it go.
Theres been a lot posted on here, which has caused this update announcement thread to change into an "I hate the EPG" thread. Which is fair enough, kind of. Just.
However, Users posting "I don't like this", "I don't like that", "I don't like the other" without posting the reason why just doesn't help and won't get fed back. However "I don't like this because of that" will, if that makes sense.

I like that it moves to display an additional channel but keeps me where I was rather than just totally changing when you go over. Page (programme) up and down does that if I want to move full screen. I can see how in a very specific case of wanting to check/record the very top and very bottom channel that could be a bit annoying.

Wow. Now he is advising/telling Youview what to read and what to ignore on THEIR 'We want feedback' thread. Its a good job this man is around - I cant possibly understand how the Youview organisation could operate without his mentoring. Perhaps he was telling us some little lies and that he IS a Youview employee after all - sitting at the head of the CEO's table! (Someone should warn Phil, Support and Communications Manager that he has to be selective on what he can or cant read so as not to flaunt Visionmans rules).

This is feedback forum for YouView, not Visionman.
Scheduled recordings are just randomly disappearing from my BT dtr-t2100. Also, series recordings are very unreliable
Eg. Set come dine with me on 4seven channel at 230pm tomorrow and it asked if I want to series record which I then select. It only shows the first episode of the 5 being set to record so I have to set all 5 daily episodes manually.Same applies for the daily episode on channel 4hd at 530pm.set it to series record months ago and it didn't record Tuesdays or today's. Set tomorrow's to series record but Fridays episode isn't marked for recording.
As a reminder, this is feedback thread for the BT software update 28.26.0. If you have issues with the update or would like to give feedback both good and bad for this update, this is the place to do it. We are happy to receive feedback, especially when it details any particular issues you may have as this means we can forward it on to the relevant teams to look into whether it's a feature or a bug you've uncovered. Please keep the feedback thread relevant to the title and do not derail it.

Hi Deke, series recordings being very unreliable are down to the broadcaster, not the box. But your not the first user to report scheduled recordings disappearing. Do they still record?

I don't know about the past episodes but have access to the metadata for today and the next seven days. The broadcaster's metadata to define Friday's episode with tomorrow's as part of the same series is correct. If it is still happening for that series then it is not down to the broadcaster. The broadcaster's metadata to define tomorrow's 5 consecutive episodes as part of the same series is correct. If it is still happening for that series then it is not down to the broadcaster. Having said that, this year the channel 4 group do appear to be making more mistakes than usual when programmes first enter the epg but as the broadcast day gets nearer the ones I've been aware of have been corrected.
That's good Sarah. I look forward to seeing replies from YouView in the future.
@Andy Bush - Actually no. If a user personally attacks another for having an opinion different to theirs (which is never a good idea, anywhere) and the reply is posted as a 'Comment', when the offending post is deleted so is the Comment. Its also the reason why not many threads are merged, as all Comments (but not Replies) get deleted.

The daily channel 4 come dine with me has been successfully recording for months but stopped after Mondays recording. It didn't record the last two days and has disappeared from my recording schedule. Adding the series back for tomorrow didn't set Fridays episode to be recorded.
I only received the latest update about two weeks ago and this is when all these problems started.
Maybe you could see if Series recording cdwm on 4seven tomorrow at 1230, also sets the next 4 episodes to be recorded too. I have to set all 5 episodes individually every day.
All series recordings disappeared from the Scheduled page overnight. One was recorded yesterday evening, and a single recording added to the schedule last night was in the list this morning, but none of the series. I have just re-entered them.
Even with CurrentGen, when there are no programmes upcoming in the EPG at all, the Schedule entry will not appear for the Series.
But it will still be held by the box, and if the Series ID appears on a programme in the next 14 weeks or so, then the Schedule entry will reappear, and the episode(s) will be recorded.
Only after no reappearance for 14 weeks will the Schedule entry be deleted from the box. It has to be deleted then, as the Series Id can get reused for a quite different series of programmes after that time.
But if a programme in the EPG matches the Series Id, then the Schedule entry should duly appear, and the programme be recorded.
And if that does not happen, then things are wrong :-(
But do note that on the channels that show endless repeats of things like American Dad, it isn't necessarily American Dad that is the Series; there could be a different Series Id for each of the various seasons being shown.

On a 28.26.0 I've now selected "Series recording cdwm on 4seven tomorrow at 1230". In the guide it does also show the next 4 episodes immediately after that with the recording icon. Friday, Saturday and Tuesday's multiple episodes also now have the recording icon against them in the guide. The schedule, as usual with all but the very early versions of next gen, just summaries the series recording request with the 1 entry. I.e. Everything appears OK with mine for this series.
I've also set the 12:30 tomorrow on 4HD and that is also successfully showing Friday's episode in the guide (and search results) with the recording icon. But obviously just the 1 entry in the schedule itself.

Thanks very much Yasha for testing that out. What model box do you have? I think I will try a soft reset on my dtr-t2100

Update :just tried the soft reset and all series recordings seem to be setting correctly. Thank you.

Deke> "What model box do you have?" I used a DTR-T2100 to match yours.
Reduce the amount of time the OSD is onscreen e.g. when you pause, continue playback etc.?
Return to a title based display with pages we can skip between to allow us a much faster way of navigation the likes of a series folder with a large number of episodes?
These are two of my biggest grievances with the next gen update as they really do feel a like a step backwards for the user experience.

I wouldn't mind the onscreen display if it was just reduced a bit in size. It's taking up far too much real estate.
I can't see lists ever returning as lists seem to be getting removed from most other platforms/operating systems out there.
Personally I find the series folders (tiles) very easy to navigate.
Really! that's not good then, thankfully I have the 4K box, but I feel for people being updated to the new software and then not getting the further improvement?!? Youview not doing themselves any favours there.
There is an unsubstantiated rumour that if you still have a BT subscription T1000 on subscription with them, and you ring up and complain that it is not being updated, then they will send you a newer box, that is being updated.

Hi Roy. Its actually not a rumor. There have been a few people who confirmed they were supplied with a free T2100 replacement - "Not sure if this helps anyone with the old DTR- T1000 box but I contacted BT today to ask if they are still supporting this box with software updates. Their response was that they no longer supply this box, which I already knew, and offered to supply me with the G4 free of charge as an active BT TV customer. Should get the new box in about 72 working hours. Perhaps others with the old original box should also contact BT!" https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/Get-ready-for-your-brand-new-BT-TV-experience/td-p/1722437...#

Peter S> "The guide layout is very annoying. I can see 6 channels at a time, but can only 'highlight' or select the center 4, if I highlight the top or bottom ch, the the list jumps up or down so the highlighted one is in the middle 4. I can see no technical or aesthetic reason for this. It's particularly annoying as one can see the main 6 HiDef 'terrestrial' channels at once while scrolling, but if you want to look at or set a BBC1 or BBC4 program to record, you have to then move the list back by scrolling ." I'm sorry but I have to take issue with that.
You had to scroll the list before and this new EPG is no different.
There are 4 main HD terrestrial channels (plus CH5), not 6 (and BARB figures back that up there).
"I can see 6 channels at a time, but can only 'highlight' or select the center 4"
I sorry but that is not correct. One can perfectly well access the bottom on screen 6th channel and land on it with no need to move the cursor again.
"the the list [then] jumps up or down so the highlighted one is in the middle 4."
This in no way is a barrier to using the EPG as one did before.
The main feature a lot of users have called for is the return of an EPG wrap-around.
Hi Peter
Yes, I use the EPG in exactly the same way, and agree that this change of behaviour is very irritating, and necessitates many more button presses than with old gen. Quite why they thought it would be a 'good idea' is beyond me.
