Hi Daniel, this is a phased rollout on the Google Play Store- this will be done over the next few days. It will be available to everyone by the end of this week however!

    Wow, that was quick!

    Now to find fault  :D

The top of each entry on my MyTV Recordings and Schedules entries is slightly truncated, on my Nexus 7 Android 6 as here:-

I used to find that the Youview app was slow in arriving for the new update to Android devices. I fully moved over to Apple for phone and tablet just over 19 months ago now.

I’d give up your YouView box then - that’s got a very large number of b(y)tes in it  ;)

Hi Roy, thanks for pointing out this issue with the Nexus 7- I'll raise it with the mobile team.

Cheers, Phil. I know there are a million different Android devices, and I have three, but I like to test with the Nexus 7 because it is (or was) Google’s go-to plain vanilla (small ‘v’) Android device.

I am literally having zero problems with the new app. One of my pet peeves of the app was having a booking failed error while I was trying to record something I don't have this anymore as I can check what's in my schedule before I try to send any recording requests. While I love the new my TV screen I think you could improve it further by allowing the end user the option to remove the recordings via the app should they want to. Certainly a fantastic start though.

    Cheers.

I've had a bit of feedback from the team, what might be the cause of the issue is that your device is set to a 'large' font size. Is it ok to check this Roy and let me know the font size the Nexus is set to in the menu? Also if you could set this back to the normal font, this hopefully should fix the truncation you're seeing. Once you've checked I'll feed this back so we can look at how best to ensure the app scales correctly with the font.

Got it in one, @Phil and the team! The font size, for some inexplicable reason, was set to Huge.

i don’t recall ever setting this, and indeed, I didn’t even know there was a font setting, and had to figure out where to find it - under Display, logically enough.

All fine, as you predicted, on Normal.

There is the most imperceptible trimming on Large, just slicing off the top half of capitals and a little of the risers on those lower case letters that have them, on each top line.

Small is fine, except I can’t see it very well  :s

As a bonus, the EPG looks a lot better in Normal, or Large, than in Huge

My Moto G has the same settings here as the Nexus, but my Galaxy Young offers Tiny as well, and also a choice of fonts, which the other two don’t.

I’ll unleash these on the YouView app when I get a moment  >:)

Thanks for confirming Roy, and glad to hear this is working correctly :) I've passed your feedback onto the team to look into a possible fix for this with future updates.

On a 6.0.1 phone the update was smooth as it prompted me to reconnect to the YouView box when I went into My TV on the app.

On a 4.4.2 tablet it didn't do this. It instead told me that the software on my YouView box would need to be updated to get the functionality.

Obviously I reconnected anyway but as I now had two devices with the same name I decided to delete the old one on the YouView box. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing which is which (a rename facility would be nice but a date would do) and I guessed wrong. Instead of failing gracefully the app threw up an ugly error.

Pleased to have this functionality. It is a game changer in some ways but something isn't quite right on older versions of Android when it comes to knowing it is connected.

While the my tv recordings and scheduled tabs are good, I've noticed one thing that creates a bit of toing and froing.
On the guide, you only get to see programmes with the red record circle which you've set via the device. You have to go back to the my tv tabs to see if you've set anything from the box itself.
Surely it would be a good idea to handshake the guide on both the box and the device guide?

I don’t have any red record circles at all for anything I’ve booked, on this iPad  :'(

Looks like the Android version stole a march on it.... Though wait, newly booked stuff on both brings up the record symbol.

Looks like, besides not showing stuff booked elsewhere, it doesn’t show stuff booked on the app prior to this version  :*

I have noticed on all of my devices no matter what youview box or device I have a failed recording listed at the top of recordings in my TV on the app. The recording is a recording I cancelled before it recorded. It's not listed on the youview box. Other than that everything else is correct and the app is still useable.

I got excited for a second thinking that this was an update for the Android TV app. But it's not. Still stuck on the old interface for my brand new Sony, so have disabled it in favour of the Freeview EPG...

Just don’t try to watch catchup from All4 or the itv Hub now, then  :/

A witty comment about the update on Twitter from someone we know:

Upgrading to 11.0.25 on a 4.1.2 phone it prompted me to connect again but then can't find the box on the network. This worked fine using 10.1.12 for months. I removed the device from my DTRT4000 (on 28.26.0) and uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it is still refusing to find the Youview box. I do use the remote record feature quite a bit so it's a pain that it won't connect now.

Did a new install on a 5.1 tablet and it connected first time.

Are both of these devices definitely connected to the same WiFi hotspot on your home network, and you haven't got any strange multiple-router/segment arrangements going on?

There is only one network. A BT home hub providing DHCP and broadband. The Youview box goes over powerline to the home hub. All devices are on 192.168.1.x addresses.

And at exactly the same time, one Android device can see the YouView box and the other can't? If you install a Zeroconf Browser on the one that can't, can it see a "yv bridge" device?

I have the latest update for the app on 2 devices, Moto G phone and Lenovo tablet, both android 6,01.  Both connect to the box, schedule recordings, etc.  However, both fail to find the box to show My TV recordings!

Yes one works and one doesn't being on the same home network at the same time. Here is a Zeroconf screenshot from the 4.1.2 phone.

Thanks for the updated app and the My TV section, it is much appreciated; I hope you quickly correct the problem with the fonts in My TV as I use Huge ones

I have a Pixel XL phone running Android Oreo 8.0.0 and everything is working fine, however, I also have Nexus 9 tablet running Android Noughat 7.1.1 and on that there is strange behaviour: on the main screen if it is set to Sunday 8th Oct, then I tap on a channel logo to see that channels listings, say BBC ONE, the day is still Sunday 8th Oct which is great, however when I hit the back button to go back to the main screen with all channels the day changes to Sat 7th Oct, if you repeat the steps again the day will be on Fri 6th Oct.  I've tried clearing the data, clearing the cache, uninstalling it then reinstalling it but the behaviour is still exhibited.  In the older version the day sometimes changed randomly, which was slightly annoying, but this is a degree worse

A general point is that when you open the app would it not be best to open on todays day every time rather another day - sometimes it seems random what day it will open on
