Hi, My DTR T2100 box only downloads 3% software update before errors occur. It is an old box connected to internet by old BT copper cables. Have you got a link to download it on a laptop so I can plug it into my box USB port via USB memory stick and update that way ? Lots of other software updates do this, do you ?
Playback bar timeout is quicker? Really? NOW I'm interested!! So it's been reduced from a truly horrific 8 seconds down to what?
Dont get excited. Its still about 6 seconds - a good 4 seconds too long. And still a full half screen of blue/black dog collectively covering your screen from the top and the bottom when its on. What is actually shortened is the banner when you change channel - that now disappears after 3 seconds (better, but still at least 1 second too long for me. How long does it take to read 3 words of a program title?)
Surely the only change to the playback bar timeout is when you change channel. Which I would have thought was one of the few times that you might want time to read the programme title and how far into the programme you are. (For example when you're just stepping through the channels with the programme up/down buttons.)
I got all excited this morning when I realised my box had updated to 29.27 and I could look forward to the timeout bar being reduced. I'm sad to report Jimb that it only applies to changing channels as you say. Normal pause etc is still a mindboggling 7.5 seconds.

Yep. I'm completely baffled by why they should have made the change to this particular scenario. It's one situation where I have no problem with a lengthy display. If you're stepping through the channels to see what's on, rather than using the EPG, you can simply read the programme title and move on to the next as quickly or slowly as you wish. Can anyone suggest a situation in which this change has made an improvement?
I can totally see why you might want different timeouts for different situations. It does seem weird that this particular thing is the one to have a reduced timeout. But then there's a lot weird about Nextgen to start with.
