My you view box does not record

my box is not recording. I have done resets and re- tuned channels but nothing is working. Any suggestions please

    Welcome to the community :) 

    Can you let us know the YouView box model you are using?

    Can you also describe what's happening with the recordings in a bit more detail? Info such as if you're able to set recordings but they fail or don't record or if the box is giving any error codes would be useful to know.

    My box is a Huawei Model DN372T
    I can set recordings but on checking My Recordings they all have the message "failed to record".
    I have done factory resets but that has not helped.

    Can you let me know what programmes you were recording when they failed? When did this start happening?

    Hi Sarah

    It happens with every programme Im want to record on a variety of channels, mostly BBC1, dramas in the evening.  It has been failing to record for several weeks now.

    It's quite unusual for it to happen with every single recording you have which suggests that there may be something interrupting the recording such as poor aerial signal, transmitter issues or changes which require a retune and standby settings preventing the recording from taking place. Please check this article and go through the information. 

    If your aerial and connections are fine, it'd be worth giving our contact centre a ring as they should be able to talk you through some other steps to try and things to check.

    thank you for your reply.
    The message comes up on screen saying a programme is being recorded but on every occasion the recording fails. Nothing is being recorded. The TV and Netflix work so I don't think the aerial is faulty. I think there is a fault in the YouView box. 
    How would I get a replacement?

    Netflix doesn't come down the aerial, but I tend to agree with your diagnosis otherwise.

    if your DN372T is part of an ongoing TalkTalk subscription, contact them, and they will replace it for you.

    Failing that, when and how did you obtain it? Maybe it is still under warranty.

    Otherwise, it’s off to the shops for you.

    One last thing to try before giving up on the box, though, is a Maintenance Mode Reset. I generally suggest Option 4, as it keeps your recordings (though I don’t know if your problem means you can’t even play past recording you made when things were working OK or not) but you may need to try Option 5, which wipes everything, with recording failures.

    If even Option 5 does not fix things, though, then I fear you may have a box with a major hardware failure.

    But cross your fingers and hope it has just got its disc indexes all mixed up, and try Option 4, and then Option 5 if necessary, before breaking open your piggy bank. Good luck!
