Hi all,

Please use this thread to discuss the most recent BT software update 32.37.0 / 3.6.146 for T4000 devices.

This BT retail software update includes Players & Apps renaming to Apps, along with a fix for recordings continuing to play while in standby.

Thanks,
Sarah

Any tips on how to get the Alexa voice search working on this new T4000 update. Even though I have managed to pair everything together & added the skill, I can't seem to make Alexa search properly for a tv program to test it. I have tested this using the Youview skill & also tried using the BT TV skill, pairing either of them and adding Alexa in on the smartphone app. What Alexa is just doing is telling me all about the program instead. For instance if I say "Alexa search for Eastenders" all Alexa does is tell me about Eastenders. What search terms are best to use so I can test this, to get Alexa to search on Youview as it should do?

I think I may have answered you with the same question on Twitter already, but if not, or for the benefit of others, you can try saying "...on YouView" or "...on BT TV" at the end of your query to attempt to steer Alexa to direct it to the appropriate video skill you have paired.

    Which begs two questions.

    1) Why is the Alexa search capability not mentioned in the release notes

    2) Why does the picture show TV Shows and Films tabs in the menu

Minor point if the announcement and release  pages are to be edited then the word retail could do with being removed.
ie  BT rather than BT retail.

Also at the moment although this thread doesn’t seem to be in the Announcement category rather just a thread albeit featured in the Community.

    Hi all,

As some of you have noticed, this release also enabled Voice Search with Amazon Alexa. BT have posted some more information about this here, and the BT TV Skill has been added to the Alexa Skill Store.

Please see our support article for further help.

@scott & @zulu17 , thank you for pointing out the screenshot in the article, this was from the Humax Retail release and will be updated, along with the correct 'BT software release' wording.

    Thank you,
    Louise

Further to Louise's note, and from the department of unnecessary technical detail - 32.37 doesn't actually switch on voice control, it's a platform configuration that BT are deploying separately but in parallel - I believe they are going to do a broader announcement (than just their forum) once the config has rolled out to most of their box base. As if something was announced broadly now, everyone can find the BT TV skill in the Alexa app, but then some users might not have their boxes enabled yet, meaning they would get stuck pairing, and that is confusion that could be avoided.

Not convinced about that...That only works well if they are going to do the platform configuration on some boxes without the 32.37 update. If not for me it would make more sense to tell people that the voice control is being enabled with this version of software (even though we know that isn't strictly true) and therefore people would only expect it to work when they get that version of the software on their box. Now you are running the risk of people being confused what does actually enable the voice control and why they can't get it on any box already.

I suppose it is a bit a of the case - dammed if you do and dammed if you don't :)

Yes because it only searches at this time. More actions promised in the future.

I've set up the skill and linked it but when , for example, I say "Alexa, search for EastEnders" it brings back Prime results on my Amazon echo Show.  If I I try in on an Echo dot, it says "I couldn't find any enabled video skills that can do that...."

Anyone had similar issues? I tried disabling it and setting it up again from scratch but it didn't help.

@ledgie try saying for your first search  "Alexa, search Youview for EastEnders"
