Really disappointed by this. The only suggestion made is that Users move to BT.
Yes it’s awful news. What if your not a BT customer. I’m thinking there up to something cos this is roughly the month BT are going to introduce full now tv maybe BT want YouView for them self.....
Even though I have BT TV and the BT TV app. I loved the Youview app and used that more at times than the BT TV app, Very disappointed by this and its a back wards step I feel. What if someone has BT wanted to move away from BT to save money. Dose that mean there Youview box may not work though time and the lose of the Youview app will be a big blow. The likes of my sister that has retail Youview box in her bedroom don't want the likes of BT and is happy just having her Netflix account and Amazon Prime Video using my account.
All is not lost, I have the youview app downstairs and in the bedroom I use the talk talk app. Just replace the soon to be defunct youview app with the talk talk app, works perfectly.
I tried the Talk talk app and it doesn't seem to function for me. I'm with ISP John Lewis (Plusnet) I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing the cache with no success. Hopefully someone at Youview will be reading forum complaints before matter is forwarded to consumer association. John L
Can't wait for the day when Youview get rid of the dreaded darkened banner when using fast forward/rewind recordings.
This has just been posted by an OCE on the TalkTalk forum, so there will be no options available other than the BT one, for which you need an account with them!
I don't know how removing this functionality can be said to meet their customer's needs!!!
Offical statement from our TV product manager below :
TalkTalk TV is an award-winning marketplace for great TV, combining over 80 top channels with all the best On Demand players and streaming services including Netflix and Prime Video. As part of our commitment to meet the evolving needs of our customers, the TalkTalk TV Planner App will be phased out by 31st March 2020.
After this change takes place customers can continue to enjoy flexible access to the very best entertainment, record TV shows and films, as well as watch BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and ALL 4 directly from their Set Top Box.
How frustrating - this is a superb app. The talktalk app is also going to disappear end of March 20. I use them both on 2 different boxes every day. I don't have BT so what will I do? Richard

Good question Richard. Hopefully there will be a solution very soon. Have a good day. John L

whatever it is I do hope it can send notifications to the phone when you are outside the app that there is a clash. It knows this as you get an error message when returning to app but it would be great if you didn't have to check it. cheers, R
Really poor from Youview. I have a Humax box that will clearly be unsupported and I will have to revert to manual recording. Very much a backward step. Why are Youview doing this?
Dose this suggest that YouView are going to stop selling boxes them self ?? Like on amazon or Currys ?? Please could you let me know........
YouView is transitioning from a B2C (business to customer) model to a B2B2C (Business to business to customer) model so our focus has moved to delivering and supporting the needs of our business partners; BT, TalkTalk, Humax and Sony. Since we are moving away from 'direct to consumer' products, we have made the decision to remove the YouView app and move resources around to better suit this new model.
We have quite a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment here at YouView and we are excited to share more about these over the course of the 2020.
Had a look on the Currys web site and I see there have already stopped selling retail Youview box T2000 and only have the BT retail Youview box on there website. Unless the T2000 is out of stock.

Hi Darren, I only checked recently plus a while back. They have been selling only BT2100 pvrs. I have not seen any T2000 models for a while anywhere. John L

The simple answer is that BT have pressured them into making the remote facility a paid product, why else would there not be one free app for all? I bought my Youview box knowing that I could set recordings remotely and don't take kindly to them removing the only functionality not offered by a competitor. Whilst fairly stable now (still plenty of bugs should you "chase-play") I have put up with their terrible updates in the past. Well, this will be my last Youview (or derivative) product and when it dies I will be moving to something else!

Just to let everybody know that the Android BT TV app updated yesterday and it can now be used by non BT customers. I have a standalone BT Youview box and I can use the app to schedule recordings. It takes a bit of getting used to after using the youview app, but it works fine. (Just checked with my wife and the Apple version also works)
Just to clarify, the app for TalkTalk customers will only work on Freeview channels as it does not seem to be picking up additional channels for selection like the old app seemed to.
Given its a BT app maybe not surprising it picks up their boost channel listings, but a shame it does not back till the channels on the box.
I am having problems logging into BT TV do I need to sign up for a deal with BT? I just want to be able to set a recording using my iPad. any advice gratefully received.

You should not be raising people's hopes that there will be.
Darren
Not checked Currys but I’m guessing there going to stop selling direct.

No, you don’t need a deal.
Here are the instructions I posted in another thread yesterday:-

Just be aware of three things:-
There was an initial bug in the BT TV App, that affected retail users, so ensure you have the latest BT TV App on your iPad, and not an older version;
You can’t use the App ever, if you have a Humax T0x0 model number YouView box; only the later Humax T2xx0 and T4000 boxes are compatible.
