Apologies, I thought it was obviously an answer to your question. I should perhaps have quoted rather than @ mentioned to be absolutely clear.
    It was obvious to me.
But as this forum has turned into a general purpose chat room I thought some people might have thought you were just sharing a personal observation rather than providing useful information.

The BT TV iOS app provides the remote recording facility for any YouView user without having to login with a BT ID.

Just installed the new Android BT TV App. I think it's better than the old one, as you can now delete scheduled recordings.

Slightly faffy to get to the TV Guide, but so far so good.

Pairing the app to the box was a doddle.

Fair play BT for opening access without an ID! You never know, I might even subscribe at some point..
    Thank you.

Really? How? That's a new one on me.

@redchiz deletion is normally achieved in the Android app by selecting the programme in MyBt and swiping to the left. applies to Scheduled and actual recordings.

    Android app? MyBT? OK.

Why only the android app. This seems to have sneaked in a bit as it is something I have been hoping for a while but I only have iOS. When did it start on android.

Sorry I didn’t explain that very well. I mean about the deleting recordings/scheduled recording functionality from the app.

Does the BT Android app work with non-BT boxes? Mine can detect my T2000 but it will not connect.

Yes, worked fine for me when I set it up yesterday for my T2000 box. A test recording set via the app then made it to the box fine.

Well done for BT and Youview finding a solution. Until this week, BT were missing a trick, this might even encourage more to subscribe for extra features within app. John L
Can't wait for the day when Youview get rid of the dreaded darkened banner when using fast forward/rewind recordings.

Great news, thanks to BT for giving us free access to their app. It's a shame it wasn't thought through and agreed before though. Annoyed a lot of people, but I guess the feedback got results. Seems to work alongside the YouView app, but that will obviously stop soon. The BT app obviously has stuff that we don't have access to, but at least the guide has an HD only button bottom left, which is an improvement on lots of scrolling in the YV app.

Haha. Just got an error code from the BT App and looked it up on their error codes lookup site.  https://www.bt.com/help/tv/bt-tv-app-error-codes---android

It came up with a massive list of error codes followed by the advice (for all of them) ''Close the app and re-start.''  :)  :)  :)    Funniest thing was, that didn't even fix the problem...

    Hi all,

We have an update concerning TalkTalk box users. Unfortunately a STB software update is required to allow TalkTalk users to continue using this after 31st March.

Users with TalkTalk STBs will be able to use the BT TV app in the near future. We are currently unable to advise on a date when TalkTalk might do this, so we'd suggest raising any questions or feedback directly to TalkTalk

    Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

Hi @Sarah could you just clarify please: TalkTalk users generally, or just Huawei TalkTalk boxes? Humax/BT boxes on a TalkTalk connection will still work?

Indeed yes, with the BT app

    Thank you Stephen. 👍

What about the T1000 though - it worked with the YouView app so why not the BT one?
  • redchizredchiz Member, Super User Posts: 5,471 ✭✭✭
The T1000 has long been a legacy device. Whilst it will continue to function "as is," no software or feature upgrades have been available for quite some time.
  • tramdevtramdev Member Posts: 6
I was not expecting an update just that it did with the YouView app which means the box can do it but must be being blocked by the BT app

I think the box needs to have the latest software to interact with the latest app, hence why TalkTalk Huawei boxes are not currently able to use it either. But I am no expert, perhaps one will pop in to clarify @Stephen?   ;)

Yes, I'm afraid that the infrastructure and servers for sending remote record requests has completely changed, so the 1st generation boxes (and the YV/TT apps) are still trying to connect to the old infrastructure that no longer is active.
Later boxes and the BT app are now (or soon-to-be in the case of Huawei) switched over to using the new infrastructure.

I have a Humax DTR-1010 box and I was very happy using the YouView app on my Android phone. Last month, when I heard that the YouView app was to disappear, I downloaded the BT TV app and was able to pair with my Humax. I could also schedule recordings and do most of the things I could with the YouView app.
But now I find that the BT TV app will no longer work with my box - presumably since YouView removed support and BT has sort of confirmed this.  Please could YouView make its app available again on the understanding that there will be no future updates or bug fixes?  There is nothing wrong with my Humax DTR-1010 and I cannot be the only user feeling left out in the cold.

Thank you BT. Saves that tedious walk to the east wing when my man has the day off. :)

And thank you BT developers for allowing the app to be moved to the SD card.
