Anyone know if there is a way to watch All4 , ITV Hub etc without you view or an aerial. I have a sky dish and no antenna and want to watch via internet as I do on my tablet. Fed up of having to cast to my tv

Any streaming device would tick that particular box.
My recommendation would be a roku box for around £20.

yes yes that is a thought, but I have a Sony Bravia smart tv and I can watch prime and bbc and My5 without any additional hardware but can’t load All4 on google store as it does not appear in the search

I'm afraid owning a allegedly smart Sony tv be it freeview play or youview guarantees the need for a external device.
I am the proud owner of two Sony's both purchased despite the smart elements not because off.
Both wedded to a youview box and a roku box.
Just using the tv as a source for apps means you are really missing out.

Hoshsadiq will fulfil the ‘without YouView’ bit. Look him up.

But nothing will fulfil the ‘without an aerial’ bit; Channels 3 and 4 need to have been tuned in for these two players to work. Though you don’t have to keep the aerial connected after tuning, so you could take it round to a nearby friend, neighbour or relative, tune it there, and bring it back to yours afterwards. Once the lockdown has eased, that is. Or spray it with Dettol, and do the front-door two-step.

I think tuning it on the Freeview side will suffice; this isn’t well documented. But if not, you will have to tune it on the YouView side, which is a bummer if you have satellite tunings stored, as you lose them.

Thank you so much for the above. I have a new Sony KD43XG8196 tv. BBC I-Player worked but ITV Hub, More 4 and Demand 5 would not play the selected programmes. I followed the advice to go to settings, then Initial set-up, and accept everything, plus I entered my postcode which I had not previously done. I now have all catch-up channels via Youview. Phew!
WHY DON'T YOUVIEW TELL YOU THIS AT INITIAL SET-UP STAGE? It took me quite a while to find this forum solution.
