Alphabetical recordings index

Discussed this via emails in 2017 when this feature was scrapped. Any news of re-instating? Guess it’s been discussed here. It’s so time consuming ploughing through pages of (reverse) chronological picture boxes. I know what prog is named, but no idea when recorded! Have two Humax DTR-T2000 boxes.

YouView series records are ordered in individual series stacks, with no plans to change them. So its a bit of a head scratcher why you can't find them?

    @Visionman @KeithC

Not remotely as much of a head-scratcher as how on Earth you think that stacking helps in any way whatsoever?

I have nine pages of tiles. Some are series, some aren’t. It doesn’t bear thinking about how many pages I’d have if series weren’t stacked, but I still have nine pages, even with stacking. Pretty near the limit on this 500GB box; but just imagine if it were 1TB.

And re series, the damn things migrate towards the top as new episodes are added; they won’t even stay still.

But what about the much-vaunted YouView Search?

Oh, it will tell me that there is a good biopic on Malcolm Arnold, that I can rent or buy on Amazon Prime. And likewise that I can rent or buy The Bridge on the River Kwai from Amazon Prime also, and would I like HD or 4K?

But will it tell me, much closer to home (literally, in this case) that I have a recording of a performance of the music from that film, with background notes on the composer?

Will it heck as like, despite both the above search terms being in the metadata of that recording?

Perhaps if we could use Search on Recordings at all, especially if we could optionally request the Search be filtered to Recordings only, this would help here.

Any look at the current terrestrial offerings answers that particular question. 🖥

@Visionman I think @kodikid comment refers to the rerun rubbish on TV at the moment and being unable to go out to too many places.

@Visionman was anyway attempting to go off on a side trip there, to divert attention from the robust response to his original assertion.

    Didn’t fool me 😛

Was I?  Ohhh... Your not a god Roy, so don't pretend you have some kind of prescience that knows what I was doing. And now I expect a lecture on prescience, that I already fully know about. But there you go again.... Predictable.   :D

You have your views and I have mine, which we are both entitled to. We both try to help, which is what counts.

@Roy @Visionman squabbling again! Better to concentrate on all the false promises made by YouView when they changed to pictures.

@westone As futile enterprises go, sparring with @Visionman is the more rewarding of the two....

That's good to hear @Visionman. You are not very effective if you been at it all that time. Perhaps you should think about retiring.
