Now TV on Youview

Hi,  The Now TV app doesn't work on my YouView box.  I have model DN370T.02.04.P.
Does this mean I would need a replacement YouView box to enable the new Now TV app?

    Hi robertsandy95 and welcome.  🙂

It does. If you are a TalkTalk TV subscriber contact them and they will swap it out for an up-to-date model. Alternatively, NOW TV is also available on a wide range of other devices.

You're welcome. So what is it to be? Simple curiosity now, would hope to see that you have found a solution.

Are the Now TV channels available in Full HD & recordable via the EPG.

if so, does this mean that it’s only Virgin that doesn’t have Sky Atlantic?

The fact is Sky Atlantic is one of Sky's flagship channels,  and its only available though Sky or Now tv.
You can not get access to it outside of these two.

TalkTalk don't do HD as the majority of viewers don't watch it. So TalkTalk made a commercial decision to broadcast in SD only. I don't know if they are still recordable.

Bizarre decision given that 99.9% of new TV's are 4k enabled.
A 4k can upscale HD content to a watchable level but SD is just a woeful experience on a 4k tv.

You have some interesting answers and comments there, but not necessarily to your question.

NOW TV channels are available via the app on YouView boxes in exactly the same way as on other devices i.e. streamed in 720p. You can upgrade to 1080p HD content along with Dolby Digital 5.1 by paying an additional subscription for the NOW TV Boost.

They are not available/recordable via the EPG. That facility is only available to BT customers with a BT TV subscription at their own inflated pricing.

    @Visionman

That will disappoint users who tune to BBC1HD on 101.

But I thought only Arqiva actually broadcast?

    So perhaps you mean ‘stream’?

But then what does this actually apply to? Are you saying that TalkTalk actually bust NowTV’s already rather pathetic 720p down to 576i? And that you would be simply wasting your money buying a Boost Pass?

    Despite
    https://help.nowtv.com/article/what-is-now-tv-boost
where you can expand the question ‘What devices support NowTV Boost?’
to find an official NowTV refutation of this assertion.

As further regards NowTV on TalkTalk, see the NowTV page
    https://www.nowtv.com/devices/youview
which despite the generic name is actually TalkTalk specific, mentioning TalkTalk on the right, and offering the link ‘If you’re a TalkTalk Broadband customer, click here’.

Which takes you to a near-identical page. (Which would only make sense if this were analogous to corresponding pages about BT; but except on BT’s own site, I can’t find any).

But these TalkTalk pages do at least make it clear that TalkTalk have nothing analogous to NowTV on BT TV, so TalkTalk customers are in the same boat as everyone without a BT TV subscription.

Except that they won’t have the NowTV channels dangled in front of them like BT subscribers without BT TV, and even BT subscribers on BT TV who don’t get NowTV through BT TV.

So, no channels to see, outside of BT subscribers, and no channels you can watch or record, outside of BT TV subscribers who get their NowTV through BT TV.

But you can download NOWTV episodes on certain devices, though not on YouView ones.

No Roy. The box is HD but TalkTalks broadcast boost channels aren't.

Indeed. But what does that have to do with this topic? The "answers" you offered were either wrong, or irrelevant I'm sorry to say.
