The best NowTV experience you can have, and will probably ever have, is on a Roku Stick, ever since NowTV screwed up the user interface on their own NowTV sticks.
Nothing else comes close.
We won’t even look again at the YouView implementation until it has subtitles, which means that all the other issues with it pass us by.
to be honest now TV can often be a bit of an odd terms of how well the UI works over all , for example the now TV UI works much better on Sony android TVs is then it does on LG TVs currently, even though the UI is the same at the front end on both devices. It is much faster on Sony than it is on LG.
Though, having to support older versions of LG's webOS might have something to do with that webOS came of age, from webOS 3 onwards . After that, everything started working better on LG's webOS. Having to maintain support for older versions may well be hampering the overall user experience. There will be a reason why Disney plus didn't support anything older than LG webOS 3 TVs.
As for the now TV UI on now TV's own devices. I'm going to say something unpopular, but I quite like it. With a few simple changes the UI could be made much better for example in the movie and entertainment sections. They could move the genre filters to the top of the section rather than them be at the bottom. But there are number of quick shortcuts that can be used if you know how. I think the issue that a lot of people have been having is that the new UI is more hardware heavy, which means users on older now TV devices such as the second gen now TV box (black) have issues with the sluggishness, whereas all of the newer hardware, which is a significant leap forward doesn't have significant issues with sluggishness due to the newer hardware having more RAM and more powerful CPUs.
YouTube and Disney are there and it's arguably a better viewing experience.

It may or may not be of use, but thought I'd mention it just in case.
I’ve seen the date on it 😢
That’s just how you pay for it - you can watch it on up to five more devices that you may have with the NowTV app, using the same account details, for no extra cost.
If you want to record it, then you will have to use the app on the YouView box, probably via the BT TV channels; but just to watch it, you can do that anywhere you can find the NowTV app, which you may even have on your TV if it is smart; or, as I recommend, buy a Roku Stick if not.
With multiple devices, two people (or three, if you have the NowTV Boost) can watch different NowTV streams on different devices.
But you certainly aren’t restricted to the YouView box alone, just because your subscription comes via BT.
