At a guess, it means there are no recordings going on, but I can’t recall ever noticing this.
Can you post a screenshot showing it happening?
As per my reply on other section, have you tried doing the maintenance mode reset? If you haven't the box won't fix itself. Without being rude in any way, this would be my first route to trying to fix your box. Next option software reset and see if this does anything. Worth a try.
If this doesn't work, then it may be hard drive needs either totally reformating or at the worst replacing. My guess, I say a guess, is the hard drive may be corrupted. It also has a 2 hour buffer partition that runs continuously when machine is on. Hopefully, it is not going to be this, but the only way to find out is to do a reset. Fairly straightforward once you have followed the instructions carefully. John L
I had a quick look on the TalkTalk forum to see if you had posted but could not see it. Do you have a link please?
If it's not TalkTalk, who is it, as dont think they would be able to help as its a TalkTalk box.
If it was me, I would purchase a replacement bt 2100 Youview pvr from cex online with 24 month warranty for £40+. You could then enjoy watching, recording again, having a spare box later on to use in another room, instead of waiting for talk talk to think about it. Good luck. John L
The reason I'm recommending this is that, as of last week, any replacement box TalkTalk will offer in exchange will be a non recording box, so trying to bring the recording function back to life will probably only occur with the full reset.
If it doesn't work or the box fails during this process, you can let TalkTalk know and hopefully they will then replace and you will not be any worse off than you are now.
That slid past without any comment!
Also, I haven’t seen you making your usual suggestion that Michelle/Jonathan should get help from the Mods on the TalkTalk Community rather than the TalkTalk support phone lines, or is that what is happening anyway?
This follows the decision not to supply PVRs to new or upgrading customers.
I did make the suggestion or alluded to it on 11/2. Person has 2 threads and I mentioned on the other (https://community.youview.com/youview/discussion/7606436/talk-talk-box-dnt372t-freezing-an-sticking#latest ) but the OP seems to prefer to take advice from John so he has repeated my advice a couple of times and been thanked.
Ah, so you did.
I know to bow to your superior knowledge of TalkTalk matters, but I guess newcomers find it hard to pick and choose among the plethora of SuperUsers on offer. Perhaps we should each list our specific areas of expertise 🤔
If the OP had taken the advice to contact TalkTalk and post the link (I would have escalated it) on the 11th, they would by now be enjoying a new recordable box if it is faulty. As it is they will probably only get the non recordable version now in exchange if the box is faulty and the factory reset does not bring it back to life.
Roll on the next user query . . . .
