All to help with the sale price. Dont see BT forking out for the 3 years or even 1, more profit in BB FTTP now.

It is actually a community discussion forum and therefore people are free to put their own take on any discussion, a bit like you saying BT won’t pay and FTTP is more profitable, both incorrect statements but you are free to say it. FTTP takes up to ten years to recover costs hence the reason BT were reluctant to do it and wanted government assurances the prices would be allowed a bit of leaway, BT know the UK needs fibre for future and are hoping they can sell over the top products to make money but the actual fibre is expensive to put in and of course faster speeds mean they need higher capacity in thier network to cope all of which equals a lot of money to pay out without a huge premium for the fibre price over the copper.

Like most forums, you can find help if you ask but most of the topics are thoughts/arguments/ramblings and guesses. Even the topics that start of helpful tend to degrade and derail as they move along. This is standard forum fodder unless you find one heavily censored by mods There are a few people in the know about certain topics and so you will find quite a bit of baiting to try and get people to slip info that they shouldn’t really because of NDA’s hence the back and forth

Plusnet and TalkTalk have recently abandoned offering tv packages, It's no secret BT want to offload it's sport. At the moment BT is just a now wholesaler and if you looked at it's web site you would be forgiven for thinking youview no longer exists. The jury's out but you wouldn't bet against BT following TalkTalk's lead and focusing totally on providing broadband.
BT don't want to fully offload BT Sport. They are hoping someone will come along and be a partner in BT Sport. So they can share cost. I cancelled BT Sport just before the first lockdown in March 2020. As it was no longer part of the package. As I moved to Now Big Entertainment with HD add on. Glad I did as BT have since lost Scottish football and the tennis. Although I have to say I have not been watching much of the tennis this year like I used to and don't want Sky Sports as would not watch it enough o justify the monthly payments. At times I wonder if Youview will still be around in the next 5 or 10 years. As BT no longer use the Youview branding and TalkTalk and PlusNet no longer selling TV packages to new customers.

Yes. It's all about best price. I understand that it wasn't paid up front. The new investor will front payments. It's called business Visionman.
They have no definite partner so they would not sign a contract tieing them in to a deal knowing they wanted to ‘get out’ of sports. It is business but if they wanted out they wouldn’t sign a deal at all. Like I have said they want to share the cost with a partner it is not about getting out of sports all together. They might even have got a better deal if it had gone to auction again because people are nervous and rights are going down, the business is about ensuring you keep what you have and know the price for your ‘ongoing’ business.

The big question is do BT want a ongoing TV business? Last annual report it got a two line mention. A new CEO with differing views from his predecessor. There last box design was 6 years ago. And we won't mention what's happening with the sports. With Virgin merging with 02 and Sky owned by Comcast can they afford to compete?

They haven’t had a TV business for a long time, they are not in the same business as sky who rely on their tv business (it has always been a sideline to BT to ensure they could offer a quad play bundle to anyone that wants it all from BT). BT want to be a facilitator in the TV market (offer as many full TV services on its PVR box without paying but go back a bit and one of the main reasons they were able to do a deal with sky for its full now service is because sky wanted access to BT’s sports channels to wholesale with its own channels). As for a new box believe me BT have spent a lot of time and effort (as we know from when the announcement was made) to just abandon realising one In fact if you google a bit you will find BT are now looking to broadcast 8k sports content this season from some specialised 8k broadcast units they have set up (from a service everyone thinks they are trying to sell).

I would say plusnet always has just hung on the coat tails of what BT were doing and nothing much extra was spent on them for anything. What additional would you say Plusnet offered that they developed over what BT were offering.
