A Bluetooth remote seems more responsive than an normal remote that uses infrared. Also it just seemed to find the make of my TV Samsung without me having to do anything. Love my Bluetooth Fire TV remote. Bluetooth remotes seem to now be the way forward and im sure over the next few years more things will start to come with a Bluetooth remote.
I remember when I first got a youview box...bloody nightmare linking the remote to the tv. In all fairness that was probably my fault but this one you literally don't have to do anything as it works straight out of the box.
If you have never had a Bluetooth remote before it's a revelation, isn't it? 🙂
I've never had one, so could you guys explain why it's so good (apart from the fact that you can put the box in a cupboard). Is it that the box can talk back to the remote, but how would that be useful?
We have our T4000 in an enclosed (but ventilated!) compartment of our AV rack. It has a glass door in front of it, but this doesn’t affect the IR remote.
However, our kitchen TV is a Samsung with a One Connect box, and we didn’t want a shelf under the TV, so the box lives behind the wine fridge. The Samsung TV remote is still picked up by the TV itself, but anything else, like the Roku Stick plugged into the OC box, is out of line of sight, so can’t be IR. It’s actually RF, rather than Bluetooth, but the principle, and the advantages, are the same.
However, the downside is that our LG Magic Remotes, which make a good fist of working nearly everything plugged into our LG TVs, including the T4000, can’t control a Roku Stick, only IR Roku devices.
The same may be true of the new Pro box, then, unless it has an IR capability as well as Bluetooth.
@kodikid, would I be right in thinking the Pro won’t respond to earlier YouView remotes?

Indeed; there is surely no reason to suppose it would suddenly stop doing what it did before when a new box comes along, as if it were Woody suddenly encountering Buzz Lightyear 😛
But the question was does it have any effect on the new YouView Pro box?

Sorry Roy misunderstanding. Yes works perfectly with the pro box, in fact it works faster on the pro box then it does on its own T4000. This is good to know as over the years I've accumulated a few youview remotes. Anticipating your next question no the pro box remote has no effect whatsoever on the T4000. So in conclusion the prehistoric Humax remote is more versatile that the pro Bluetooth.

The other is that the Pro box is more versatile than the T4000, as it (unobviously) accepts IR as well as Bluetooth, while the T4000 (obviously) only accepts IR.
But the Pro remote doesn’t do IR….
The very good news for Pro box owners, though, is that any universal remotes they may own which are IR only will still work the Pro box just as they would a Txxx, as long as it stays in line of sight like the Txxxx had to.

If you hold Home (purple) and 7 until the logo flashes, the bluetooth remote resets back into IR mode, so it is double versatile!
The first time it talks to a BTTVBPro box they will auto-pair with each other and the remote switches to bluetooth-only mode.
So if your Pro is off and you reset the remote, it will work perfectly well with the T4000 or any other Humax until you turn the Pro on and press the first keypress "at" it.
Addendum: the Pro remote is missing a few buttons from the Humax remotes, e.g. Delete, so the UI is slightly customised on the Pro to allow you to press Rec on recordings to bring up a dialog with a delete option, but if you use an old Humax remote to press Delete, it still works on Pro.
I have been using 2 x T400's side by side on one remote for some time. Basically when one is off the other is on and it works well for me. Does this new box use the same RC codes meaning that if I use the box alongside my 2 x T400's with current remote it will switch on/off two boxes?

The new Pro box works by Bluetooth, so it should be possible to operate it independently of any existing boxes using IR.
And, presumably, to operate several Pro boxes independently, each paired with its own individual Bluetooth remote.
However, @Stephen reports that the remote for the Pro box can be toggled to operate via IR, and @kodikid that he was operating the Pro box from IR on a T4000 remote without any such toggling.
So I think your T4000 remote will, annoyingly perhaps, operate the Pro box when you don’t want it to, though the Pro remote, unless toggled as Stephen described, won’t operate the T4000s.
We might hope, though, that there is another remote or box setting for the Pro, documented or secret, to have it ignore IR and operate via Bluetooth only; Stephen?

Sadly not at present, I think the manual approach of a large piece of card might be the best option.
Retail T2000 is sluggish with the new UI. In comparison using the Amazon firestick 4k is very slick, which makes for a big contrast with Youview. Kids are constantly drawn to using the Firestick because its less sluggish, even for those apps that are already on Youview.
Perhaps this new Youview box is worth the outlay. Rubbish that Amazon never came to retail Youview, though this would be a way around that.
Don't buy the pro box for apps. I too find myself using the Roku far more then the youview Pro box. No exaggeration Roku has twice the amount of apps as the pro. And not just fillers but quality stuff like Disney and YouTube. It's horses for courses.

I’m the same with my Amazon Fire stick HD 2020 version. Now use that more than I do both my Youview boxes. It’s just faster for apps and has far more apps too chose from. Even better since I upgraded the remove too the new Bluetooth one. I do still use the Youview box to record and at times for watching tv channels.

Probably wise, as I know forum fatigue when I see it, and indeed, I’ve had it myself.
But, in nearly the words of the immortal Jackson Browne, ‘What you are seeing isn’t what is happening at all”. Which is part of it, of course 😢
And in exactly the words of just about every TV presenter on a commercial channel - “Join us again, after the break”🙂
