Only good think about that deal is you are getting the BT Pro box.
Offer will be good for some but not for others.
Will not miss the AMC Channel as have hardly watched it since Christmas.
My BT TV with Now is due to finally stop by this weekend.
Im now making a small saving going with Now direct and dont have another 24 month TV contract.
Yes I also have Sky Cinema thats is also not included in the BT TV deal.
BT must be starting to see a slow down in up take for its BT TV service to be started to offer limited TV deals for the Now service.
Why in 2022 any company is peddling anything but HD like it's special is beyond me and annoys me so much. #SDdefinitioniscrapdefinition.
No, I couldn’t get one for the price I wanted to pay (nothing)
But the landscape is so changed now - we have used our YouView box exactly twice in the last two months, both times to watch that day’s Countdown when Channel 4 fouled up putting it out on catchup on All4+ in good time.
And moaned about having to FF through the ads 😢
Now we’ve started rewatching The Wire; and given the choice of:-
5 sets of DVDs lovingly acquired at the time, swappity swappity at slightly better than SD, bit of a faff if you want to watch in different rooms at different times;
or the whole thing seamlessly on Now in HD using our existing Entertainment/Boost subscriptions, with Now remembering where we left off each time so we can seamlessly pick it up in the same room or a different room:
which do you think we went for? 😛
And it used to be that when two live programmes clashed, you watched one and recorded the other, or even recorded both, if you were going out. Now, like as not, you just use catchup.
So BT have got this offer ****-backwards; the lend of a very flash UHD YouView box, just when boxes are getting a bit passé, and the streaming services which are where it is at today, but only in SD.
It was a smart move for BT to partner with Now, but locking you in when Now direct don’t do that, and always being full price when Now do offers, both published and retention, is the price you pay for being able to record Now programmes live, when they are all available on catchup soon after anyway, and if you want them offline, you can download them.
Looks like the pvr will go the same way as the dvd players.
Already seeing this in Sky's lack of pvr in Sky glass.
Rumours are Sky are not developing a new pvr instead focusing on Internet tv and moving away from the traditional dish and box pvr.
