We currently don't
have anything to announce regarding ITVX launching on YouView devices this
year. ITV are continuing to work on upgrading the ITV Hub app on a per device
basis and ITVX exclusive content is currently available on both ITV Hub and
ITVX in the interim. We will post an update once we have more information to
share
We are pleased to confirm that ITVX is now available on the following devices:
BT TV Box Pro and Mini
TalkTalk TV Hub
Sony Android TVs with the YouView Live TV & Catch-up app
The new app is not available on Humax, Huawei or older Sony TVs with YouView at this time however we will update on these accordingly.
As before ITVX exclusive content is currently available on both ITV Hub & ITVX. ITVX will support subtitles and offer a new ad-free paid subscription which includes access to BritBox UK content.
HD content, ITV News programmes and Live TV channels on ITVX are currently not available on YouView devices.
thank you @Rohit for the information. However this delivery appears to be a seriously limited version of ITV X and provides me little or no benefit. Also no indication of when HD , live channels , FAST channels etc will be provided plus the accessibility non deliveries. It really is very disappointing.
Thanks for the feedback here and in other threads. Whilst we're happy for discussion to continue on this forum, I would suggest that you also raise these points directly with ITV. We don't have any control over the features within each app, nor any confirmed dates of when new features may be released.
@Rohit can you control the app's icon? Currently this is a black square with just "ITV" on it - not the bright yellow ITVX logo. (Most people wouldn't notice that the app had changed.)
ITYM ‘all devices listed above’ - I certainly have devices that show the new yellow itvX logo, notably my Rokus and my LG TVs. Though, annoyingly, there is no Live/FAST Channels option on the LGs, so it isn’t just YouView who are the poor relations.

@Roy I presume that you want to have the FAST channels available so that you can watch programmes such as Love Island as a continuous stream 😝

You should not assume that we share the same tastes 😛
Indeed. I wonder how many people would want to watch one of these FAST channels. There's nothing that appeals to me. Maybe you could put in a request for what you refer to as HUTH @Roy 😂

Should selecting subtitles within the ITV X app mean that subtitles remain active for live TV viewing once you exit the app . My impression is that the box continues then to output subtitles on the live channel but the box settings imply that subtitles are not active.

Thanks @zulu17. The subtitles setting should be persistent across live TV and supported apps. We can see the icon in our UI isn't reflecting that status correctly in some cases, but also ITVX isn't respecting the current status set on the box. We're looking into both of these.

Hi @Rohit I don't think that the subtitles setting is persistent between live TV and iPlayer. (BT Pro box).
Did ITV Hub ever have live channels available on TVs, or YouView hitherto? I wonder if that is because there is seen to be no need for devices which otherwise have TV tuners. I realise there may be a requirement for such in the dim and distant if/when OTA transmissions eventually cease, but maybe not now.

Only the BBC seems to have live channels on my YouView box, out of the ‘big four’ and UKTV Play.
The same is true of our LG GX TV, except that My 5 has live channels, and it doesn’t have All 4 at all. ItvX is present, but no live channels there.
All five of these apps have live channels on the attached Roku Express, though you have to scroll right down to the bottom on each channel to see the live offerings on UKTVPlay.
On my 2017 Samsung UE32M5500, which has updated to itvX, all the ‘big four’ have Live, but UKTVPlay does not.
So pretty arbitrary, and the logic that TVs with their terrestrial or satellite tuners don’t need live internet channels isn’t consistently applied, though it is applied in quite a few cases.
A surprising number of people on the Sony Community don’t have terrestrial aerials and it has been a constant complaint from the start that the itv and All4 apps wouldn’t work at all without terrestrial tuning. Now this is no longer necessary on the recent sets, the complaint has moved to the lack of live channels on the apps.
I was absolutely gobsmacked by what @Rohit said about YouView having no input on the functionality of these apps; I have always assumed they had some, and indeed that the itv and All4 apps used on Sony were ‘YouView specials’, both from the way they only worked on the YouView side (which Hoshsadiq did later show was just a YouView restriction, though, and not fundamental to the apps) and the way they were originally tied in to the terrestrial tuning, which I haven’t encountered outside of the YouView platform.
Though maybe they work off user information, like the apps on Sony now do, or even geolocation?
Anybody who feels really strongly about live channels on apps now uses a Roku or Amazon device, or even an Apple TV box, I guess, but you do lose the YouView search integration that way, which is a shame.
But my view is that any broadcaster with an app that provides live channels should provide that across all devices, TVs included.
Even in our TV-strewn house (there’s 3 more Samsungs and two more LGs I haven’t covered above, hoping that the behaviour maker by maker is consistent), the utility room was until just recently without a TV aerial point, and trying to run a TV in there internet-only was tiresome, and the dissatisfaction from the distaff side expressed in still-crumpled shirts 😛

I notice that the Youview search does not always find ITV X premium content. So for example Cold Comfort Farm is available in BRITBOX and ITV X premium but search does not give the ITV X tile or link to ITV X. I can find it using if activating search with ITV X .
Ah, so any live channel even via apps require a licence.
Thanks for that clarification but guess it may catch some out.
Note that the TV Licence requirement covers watching live channels. You don’t need a licence just to possess equipment, apps, or whatever capable of displaying live channels, as long as you don’t actually do it.
The same is true if you possess equipment capable of displaying the BBC iPlayer but don’t watch it; however if you watch anything at all on the BBC iPlayer, live or not, then you do need a TV licence.

Hi @zulu17 - integrated search for ITVX Premium content is not currently available on YouView though this will be coming soon. ITV X exclusive content should show up, however.
As Easter marked the 3 month anniversary of the initial rollout of some ITV X functionality on Youview I am a little disappointed that there seems to have been little progress since.
To keep the thread on topic. I will repost the last relevant post.

Now that Humax have no connection with Youview it's boxes are slowly drifting into the wilderness.

If the BBC will let them have it 😛
I quite like the wellness option just above itv1, though.
As it looks like some older Youview boxes may or may not be getting some of the newer software updates.

As I understood it, the use of iPlayer for any use needed a licence, because they broadcast live TV.
Use of other catch-up apps with no access to live TV did not require a licence.
If apps are now including live TV, using them may require a licence even if you don't have an aerial or dish.
Could the same be said for internet provided live channels as with the Pro Box?
taken from tv license site :
A TV Licence covers you to:
You only need one TV Licence per household, even if you use more than one of the devices listed above
Thanks for that clarification but guess it may catch some out.

Great...
except you can't access Discovery + on the pro box or BT tv / youview in general.
You really couldn't make it up.
