You can also plug USB chargers etc into it.

I think what you need is aerial into the Youview box, then out to your toshiba dvd/video recorder, then out from that into the TV. Make sure that in Youview settings RF loop-through is set to on, otherwise the signal will be lost when it goes into standby. Edit: Just seen that sam beat me to it, I think either method will…

Hi Julia. As long as you have broadband you can use the YouView box for normal viewing and catchup, it's not for TalkTalk alone. But if it's a TalkTalk box for sale second hand that you're looking at you might be better off buying a new one, with a guarantee, at Currys online, for £100.

It is a fault, yet to be fixed. Will it not correct if you just turn it off and back on again with the remote?
-
We all realise this can be done, what is being suggested is more flexibility with no change to the UI, you wouldn't have to use the feature if you don't want to. So it must be worth considering, I can't see any downside.
-
I get 'pink screen' periodically, it doesn't seem to be related to updates, just random. But Rachel's suggestion of turning off the box and the TV and waiting a minute may be overkill. As I said, I find that just turning off the box with the remote and then immediately turning it on again will remedy.
-
I find that just switching YouView off and on again with the remote is enough.
-
I know it's not the cheapest but I've always had very satisfactory service from BT Infinity.
-
I'd vote for that.
-
It's in the dictionary.

I use two PVRs (thanks YouView trial) and record quite a lot of programmes, but I rarely watch live. I find that along with a lot of stuff I don't want there's a lot that I don't want to miss. If I only watch recordings I don't miss anything I like and I'm never flicking channels and finding nothing of interest. And…

In common with many remotes it is hard to fit a three-digit button press in in the allotted time. For radio I use 700, which is easier since you only have to press 2 buttons, then up-arrow to 703 or 704. Similarly 100 gets to HD easily.

If you click on the smiley it takes you to to the website.

Are you aware, contrary to what you might expect, that the lowest energy consumption is in High-eco mode, not low?
-
I do see what you mean exactly now, that the series link you put in for 'Judge Judy' somehow tried to record it on a day when 'TOWIE' was in the time-slot instead. As you said, it seems to be an error in the series link info somewhere. Just out of interest, on the Panasonic were you recording a series link or the same…
-
Sort of see what you mean, but doesn't YouView always declare which programme it tried to record and failed, rather than just leaving it absent? I thought YouView had let me down the other night when the BBC4 programme about Israel failed, but apparently it was cancelled due to political pressure.
-
As Emily said, how can she input the 'last four digits of a phone number' without a remote. I was using the Humax as an example, that's why I specified Humax. Or have I misunderstood your comment Roy, as you seem to have misunderstood Emily's problem?
-
Not sure I understand your problem. If YouView was scheduled to record 'Judge Judy' but 'TOWIE' was broadcast instead then YouView would mark it as a failed recording. It's the programme that YouView tries to record, not the time slot.
-
The Humax remote has buttons top left marked TV and PVR for selecting to make it operate the relevant device. Is it just that you need to press 'PVR'?
-
In Milkshake on demand if you highlight a Peppa Pig series and then 'left arrow' it gives a 'play all' option.
-
And yet my recordings of Plebs have not been clipped at all.
-
Steve Thackery:- "When playback is paused, I sometimes have to press 'Play' twice to make it play." me too. And the pink screen quite often. Switching into standby and out again cures it. Edit: Pink screen only on startup, not during normal operation.

The new EPG filtering does indeed help here somewhat as the HD filter obviously shows 101 to 104 and to then get back to easily see what's on 5 onwards the Entertainment filter comes in. Not too laborious once we get used to it.
-
If you select 'Device Management', 'Software Update', 'Get Update', it will load the latest version if you are scheduled for it under the staggered rollout.
-
I believe ITV Player does initially require the box to be connected to an aerial and tuned in as it is region dependent.
-
Owdboots, are you sure it's not your TV going into standby rather than the YouView box?
-
Agreed, nice. The guide filters are particularly appreciated.
-
I think it's only a matter of time till you get it Technogran, I almost never do but it does happen.
-
I of course agree Roy, everything cannot be made backwards compatible for ever. There comes a point where to do so would be detrimental to performance.
-
But do we know or do we only have his word for it? It's been noted before that he never has any of the problems with it that we have.
