I'm currently using 3 of the 4 available outlets and all of the output signals are well within the optimum (for a terrestrial tuner) level range of - 48 dbuV <> - 60 dbuV. In fact the worst (longest cable run) reads - 52.5 dbuV at the TV input…

"Low loss" is your best friend in this situation. Low loss everything. Cabling (ct100 or ct101), 4 way splitter (ultra low loss - can be as low as 0.5db drop per tap - costs more - mine's in the loft as previously described) and finally a decent hig…

Thanks. The original link didn't work when I first tried it.

I repeat, if there is a release note for 28.26.0 then where is it?
-
Err, where Is the release note?!

Just loaded this update to my KD-43XD8088 last night and frankly, I haven't noticed any real differences or enhancements? Is there a list somewhere? While I am on, dare I talk about the "elephant in the room" that is the TOTAL LACK of the ability t…

"Done Fell Out" seems to be the most popular... (which, as with most Internet lingo, is appalling English grammar in itself!)
-
Totally get your first & second points! ;-) I suspect the former rather than the latter in the third... In the case of this particular model, it already has all the other players installed under the Android side of things anyway so a NowTV box…

In relation to the "and Youview records...." comment: just taken delivery of a Sony 43XD8088 and was a bit miffed to find out that the version of Youview embedded on it will actually NOT record at all; even with a decent size external HDD installed!…

Aha! So it looks as if the main thrust of my previous message was spot on anyway... (signal strength) Be aware that if you are using splitters, you are halving the signal level to each outlet in real terms and therefore it is important that any ot…

Hi Matt, As I and Roy are both suspecting it looks as if your TV has latched on to the relay at Guildford which looks as if it is a "Freeview Lite" transmitter as Roy is describing (and would account for your lack of channels). You are only 38 Km …
-
Sounds like maybe you are on the cusp of two differing transmission regions and the TV is having difficulty tuning to just one of them perhaps? You should be seeing 100+ channels not 44...
-
They're not but then that wasn't my wider point. It is only a matter of time before DVB-T & T2 and DVB-S & S2 go the way of the dinosaur. At that point, all forms of transmission OTA will become redundant at a stroke and data streaming will …

I think the key point to think about in all this is whether Youview, as a platform, has even kept up with the fast moving pace of development in the broadcast arena; never mind whether it ever led it or not... In my own view, it has never led or ev…

Thanks for the further clarification Phil.
-
Sorry to seem ungrateful Phil but "This is a minor maintenance release" doesn't quite do it for us techie types out here! Any chance of more detail? After all, if it didn't actually "fix" something, you wouldn't have released it would you? So, what …

Just downloaded the July update to my (retail) box and the Red Button+ service seems to be working great! I must have been sleeping under a rock for the last 3 months as I hadn't even realised it was working on our Youview boxes! Nice one!
-
Oh very witty... ;-)

After a HDD fail in my original trial T1000, I've just changed the old 500GB out for a 1TB drive and it's now going like a train again! ...but, it would still be nice if the guys at Youview didn't treat us ALL like dummies and give us a detailed lis…

See my other post "DTR-T1000 Hard drive replacement?"
-
Before I completely gave up on the 500GB drive and force bit wiped it using GParted (in order to see if I could recover it using Seagate's utility), I did manage to see the whole structure on the disk (once I'd swatted the read errors out of the way…

Indeed! I hope so too as I've got quite attached to my (free) Youview box lol! One thing I did mean to add to that last post was that strangely, the whole box feels far more responsive to remote control commands now also! This could be because a) s…

Well, you'll all be please to hear that I received my WD 1TB drive today and installing it was a breeze. Checked the drive on my PC to make sure that it was a virgin ("unallocated") drive and it was. The first thing I heard (with a stethoscope) afte…

Although, yes, I do possess those kind of skills being a retired technician/engineer, since my unit was originally free and since I also have other DTR units at my disposal, I'm not prepared to invest the time at that level if a new HDD doesn't prov…

Thanks Roy. Think I'll try a WD 2TB at today's prices. There are plenty of posts on here (I've trawled through most of them this morning) but none with any follow up in relation to successful size utilisation after the change...
-
Update: Having had the HDD out and given it a good workout on a Linux machine, it is the culprit for sure. Loads of I/O errors reading and writing... Even Seagate's own utility software couldn't rescue it unfortunately. :-(

I'm pretty sure that the Youview platform does not support "apps" in the way that you are meaning. Apps such as Spotify, Tune-in etc etc, are written in a specific language by developers for platforms such as Windows, Apple IOS and Android and are s…

In answer to your earlier question to me Keith, I guess I didn't notice that any of these worked after the update last year and that is probably because I had all but lost interest in Youview at that point...

Has anyone noticed that all of the Internet channels (connected TV) now work after this update? (225 and on up...) Also, and this may be some sort of placebo effect, my remote now seems to be much more responsive...
