But sam you are correct – YouView probably isn't supposed to be that kind of box. Which makes me wonder if they should market it more like a Freeview+ HD box.

I completely agree YouView is far easier to use than most smart TVs which is one area it excels in. I see YouView (at the moment) as an enhanced Freeview+ HD box. There are better (Humax) PVRs for the same price or cheaper and better smart services (TVs/XBox/Apple TV) for the same price or cheaper. Anyway, more of that…

It's a Humax issue. I emailed them months ago and got the following reply: http://community.youview.com/youview/... They know we want it but don't seem to be doing anything about it. What annoys me is older Humax boxes can do it (9200T) so why not the YouView box?

Reset the box by holding down the power button on the front of the box (the round button inside the coloured ring) until it switches off. I've not bothered resetting mine and it's been like it almost a month now. I realised I never actually use it and much prefer it missing!

Check you have the aerial properly connected and that any signal booster you may have is plugged in and switched on.

Hurrah, my box finally updated overnight (it missed the April update). Just as an FYI to YouView staff, I'm now experiencing the no display after updating bug. I actually prefer it this way so I'll save the manual reboot until something else goes wrong.

I get this a lot, especially when changing channels but I still don't have the April update (mine was one of the boxes that failed to update for whatever reason).

Thanks Piers. I still get the crackling audio bug and the sticking skip buttons though. Also my software versions don't exactly match the above. They are: Manufacturer Software: 12.7.0 Component Software: 1.3.4 Platform configuration: 332 ISP Configuration: 1 Is this correct?

I noticed that The recording of CSI on Channel 5 started about 4 minutes late this week while I was watching something else. Nothing was clipped so it looks like AR is working for me anyway.

I have a retail (trial) box and still don't have the update. Usually I receive it within the first week. Would love to get it ASAP to fix the annoying crackling audio.

I had a pink screen with no sound for the first time this afternoon when coming out of standby. I put it into and out of standby again and that fixed the problem. Not sure if it's a related problem...

Look for the button marked AD (audio description) on your remote. On a Humax box it's the bottom-left one.
