sorry if already answered but will this come to Youview via a Sony Android TV anytime soon?
-
iOS devices 5yrs old are supported by the latest software. Android is such a fragmented platform. You are in a lottery with Android unless you upgrade every couple of yrs.
-
I have to admit that the Sony & YouView ‘partnership’ is a complete disaster !!!!! horrendous experience from start to finish.

Let’s not be over pedantic about the opening posters use of the word FreeSat when he means getting satellite free on his TV. i think it’s disappointing that there is no real structure like with the FreeSat EPG for satellite on TV’s without FreeSat branding but that have a single or dual Set of satellite inputs.
-
Can’t they build a TV with Both YouView & FreeView Play built in? i’d prefer YouView over Satellite. If FreeSat is just software then isn’t YouView exactly the same. I dont understand why they can’t be on both. Compromises would have to be made but it could be workable. The EPG’s are an obvious barrier and Pay TV options.…

It’s a pity ALL of Sky, BT, TalkTalk & Virgin didn’t have Air Play & Chromecast built in to their boxes also make it easy to get new apps onto them such as,... YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Eleven Sports, Now TV etc...
-
You are in the winners row of the FreeView Postcode Lottery. I do bang on about this but it’s only available to 75% of people with FreeView. im unlucky and in the 25%.
-
A 4K HDR ready hybrid YouView/FreeView/FreeSat box with a 2tb HDD obviously with Internet connectivity & Recording, YouView catch-up and FreeView Play & FreeSat Freetime would be a big seller in the Free TV market. Covering ALL free TV bases. cant understand why there isn’t a box such as this already in circulation

Jealous Sky Q user here, with the worst version of YouView on my Sony TV. Id love Sky, Netflix & Amazon Prime on my Sky Q box, along with YouTube & Spotify. Not sure how good Now TV will be but to use the 1 remote will be an advantage for BT TV users. Is there any mention of Amazon Prime on YouView or just on BT TV. im…

Worked last night. At the umpteenth attempt!!! No real immediate improvement of note. Settings on right hand side seems better but cuts off edge of current playing TV show, instead of having full view as a smaller screen, also greys it out for no reason. Also no mini TV on my Sony as Picture in Picture is not available on…

Yes I did. Every time, to no avail. it should come at some point, but the Sony TV’s needs this update if it can kill the numerous bugs. Android Nougat could be the saving grace to a generally brilliant TV.
-
Downloaded the software onto USB & this will not work, tried at least 20 times yesterday, this may give my 2015, 2K/HD, KDL43W809C a new lease of life.
-
Fox buying Sky & Disney buying Fox is brilliant for the consumer and the movie fan and the sports fan. ESPN & its deal with BT may not be renewed??? could this crush BT???
-
Or Sony or YouView could up their game and put out a better product!!! im not silent about the inadequacies I see in something!!!
-
I wish I could change the software on my Sony Android TV from YouView to this FreeView Play option. Android YouView non recording or no catch-up is terrible.
-
The only way you will get those extra FreeView channels is move house as FreeView isn’t get any better any sooner.
-
Well done. YouView will only decide to make changes when 1 thing happens, and that is money issues. That is the only time these big companies make drastic changes. they will not listen till everyone is unhappy and they know it. good luck.
-
If only us Sony Bravia Android TV owners with YouView built in had recording enabled we could join in the fun!! If not for having all catch-up variants it would be absolutely rubbish.
-
How much exactly does Sky Sports on BT cost? & How much exactly does the Full Sky Sports Package on TalkTalk cost?
-
It's a disaster that YouView directly through the TV wasn't given the same treatment as the boxes. Recording facility too and graphics interface. Even if all the same features we're not available or greyed out.
-
There should be an option to install updates automatically or ask 1st. If this means bugs are not fixed and services work less well or not at all that is a choice the consumer and device owners should make. This would fix the complaints in 1 fell swoop. Did YouView, BT & TalkTalk not think option this through ???
-
I'd imagine TalkTalk will get a sweet deal as they are not the aggressor here similar to Virgin. BT has had this coming to them, go head to head with Sky!!!!! Hopefully BT will come to regret its stance.

It's a real pity that Sony have all but abandoned the smaller TV market. They should bring out maybe 1 model of the smaller TV range from 22" 26" with;..... 4K from 32" would be amazing for bedroom TV's Android capability, (Google Play Store) FreeView Play HD, YouView HD & FreeSat Freetime HD. Their satellite offering is…

Has anyone tried to put the Android Nougat (7.0) update on their 2015 TV. I have a KDL43W809CBU, I have been told on the Sony Forums to wait for the update, but impatience within wants me to try. The Marshmallow update is bland and uninspiring now. There is no real added visual features and Nougat is coming so it's always…

The option to have a recording assigned to a user who are designated a colour red blue green or yellow would be amazing and could split recordings into groups Have an all option then an option for users to get to their recording such as football or reality or cooking etc Personal planner has been mooted on Sky but not…
-
If FreeView Play or FreeSat Freetime were worthy alternatives, YouView would go under or get better. I imagine the latter. There is not enough promotion of FreeSat from Sky. FreeView is also a problematic platform as it is a postcode lottery as to your service and reception. Now TV & Roku etc will take the people who…

The question really needs to be asked is why YouView and Sony don't speak to each other. And refer you to the others support and why they bother with it if it's not as good as the boxes.? When essentially as all the work is done in the cloud it can work as good or better than the dedicated box.
-
I want the Nougat update & YouView recording when updating comes next.
-
Didn't completely understand ur response Roy, did read it twice. I don't think technically it's difficult and therefore not impossible to add YouView recording to these Sony sets. The software should be same across all platforms even if features are not present on all. Also not impossible to have satellite and YouView…

What's stopping them allowing the Sony Bravia YouView app to record? Could this be to a HDD/SSD or to cloud storage. Makes sense to have a near unified look across ALL devices.
