Hi Success! Retuned the box (again) last night and fitted the attenuator in line. Did as you guys suggested and kept turning the pot whilst monitoring the signal strength on the YouView box. I've had it at 90% all day and the channels are there and the picture is good with no freezing/drop out /blocking. All other channels…

Thanks @roy and @jonesh.... Everyday's a schoolday...... I'll pick it up tomorrow. BTW... A case of hyperoxia elsewhere me thinks. ;)

Hi @jonesh Currently we're not getting the 3 channel numbers you state. When we did have them (on the guide) we were getting 100% SS which is where you came in I remember. I retuned last night and got those channels back, with a good picture and at 100% SS. Tonight they've dissappeared from the guide again (without…

Update to above.... I've just got home and asked my wife how has channel 17 been today. She said it was back to going blocky. So I just tried to view it and it's disappeared from the channel listing again. What's going on?

nice one you old codger ;)

Well the wait is over and I've a story to tell..... I will explain this in bullet point statements so that those of you that may know a possible reason can see the facts. My wife watched the Really channel (17) last weekend and it was bad. The variable attenuator arrived yesterday. I connected it to my incoming aerial and…

Thanks @Jonesh... I have an attenuator arriving by Wednesday... I'll post again when tried

Thanks @jonesh....I'll give that a go. It has become worse over the past weeks.

Quirky? They're not quirky. They are over-sensitive. ... Which brings us back to my good lady and her viewing pleasures. Would an in line signal booster /amplifier improve the situation?

I knew there was intelligence out there somewhere😉

Hi Visionman and yes it's been some time..... Good to know that we and others are still around. All advice duly noted. Just a question for you noted sages. We currently subscribe to the SD channels. I can imagine that a HD subscription would exaggerate the problem if it is data dropping versus time. Is this thinking…

Hi all and thanks for your input. Its a BT HH5 with PLAs supplied by BT. I would prefer to permanently wire directly, but that is not an option at present. I've had these several years without a problem. A month ago the problem appeared. A BT engineer fixed some dodgy wiring at an external street box. All was well. The…

Thanks for the suggestions... @Daniel....I get 50Mbps, I've tried the reset, it's a T4000, the channels can be OK for minutes then intermittently break up/pause/pixelate, (whether watching live or recorded) our two boxes are connected to powerline adapters (one upstairs, one downstairs) both behave similar @Tim C....I'll…

We have it too and the initial thoughts are what? and why? When looking at the guide, you are presented with a big white tile that is about 25% occupied with "information" So, Question Time that I already know is hosted by David Dimbleby says words to the effect "tonight's show is hosted by David Dimbleby who is joined on…

Hi EurekaMan I had the same issue. It didn't populate on the players until I completely powered down and back up again Then the app appeared. I can also tell you it's active and no need to wait till December
-
@Roy.....you believed "The YouView app, I am told, aligns itself with the EPG of the box it is paired with within 24 hours" By align, is it meant that the edited channels on the box will be the same listing on the Youview App? .....or something else? The listing on my app contains all the channels including those I've…

Well done Youview.......I hope you don't rest on your laurels too long

The app works as described on my one box. I could be more enthusiastic if we could hide all those channels we've already hidden on the box itself. When do we get this back?
-
@redchiz I got a 4K box from BT last February as part of a renewal deal (which was pretty good) and paid them £50 for the box to have the latest benefit of speed and size (plus it looked flash) I only have standard def subscription which I've always had. However, they have sent me 2 further brand new (not refurb)…

@ Tim C you are correct on the G4 @ Roy.....as a prominent wizzard, you will sometime come across warlocks ;) Yes guys it's a load of tosh from BT. They want to sign of my complaint but I told them they have not corrected it yet. I have 3 of their top spec machines with an inherent fault or failure due to faulty…

***Update *** My 3rd T4000 box arrived on Monday. Installed no issue. Just had a call from BT saying they believe the problem is the fact I have a UHD box, yet I don't subscribe to any 4K service, this could be the problem! They want to send me a 4G box to rectify the ongoing intermittent problem. Is this the biggest load…

Hi @ zulu17 I used the new psu. My personal belief is that the hard drives are the issue. During last weeks problem, the box tried it's start up routine but failed each time. No front light indications on the box, but the drive was running (feeling the vibrations on top) Without pulling any wires or router restarts, a…

Update on failing 4K boxes The BT Engineer arrived Saturday morning to check that the problems I'd been having ( having to perform 4 x MM4 resets over two boxes over 2 months) He checked the router, speed, connection, aerial strength, record, delete, subscription channels and found nothing wrong. Therefore he couldn't…

Thanks for the reply Roy. I just wanted to cover all bases before the engineer arrives tomorrow and also believed myself that the power issue didn't fit with the problem. The BT "advisor" on the webchat said that the problem could be caused by my usage... WHAT! He then added that there had been a manufacturing issue....…

I've been having exactly the same issue as Matthew describes at the start of this thread. In fact, BT sent me a new 4K replacement box the week before Christmas as I had to perform 3 times the MM4 routine within a month. So I had this box since the 18th December and low and behold 2 days ago this one does exactly the same.…
