Has/can anyone from YouView comment on why there isn't yet any USB support? I bought a Humax DTR-T1000 a year ago; it has two USB ports, so I assume that it is planned to support these in the software (as defined in the YV specification). So, I'm a bit confused that a full year later, why this is 'under consideration' and…

Good news, it's a very irritating bug.
-
I've had this for about the last 3 weeks (never happened before January update). It happens very frequently for me, probably around 2 in 5 times I use skip forward to find a place in a programme, it gets stuck and will forward to the end of the programme. I've not found any way to get out of it apart from pressing stop; it…

I can get the EPG to display on my upstairs TV via a scart TV sender, although only when the downstairs TV on the HDMI connection is switched off. When the downstairs TV is on, there is no EPG on the scart output.
-
I think it must be related to certain combinations of hardware, as I don't have any problems using a SCART video-sender in conjunction with using HDMI for TV (i.e. the guide/menus work fine on the second TV). This is with a retail Humax box, and an unbranded 'dome' video-sender from Maplin.

There are some figures for the eco mode here, although I'm not sure if they're 'official' as such. http://community.youview.com/youview/...

Most of the time I watch recorded TV, and sometimes live TV. I tend to record because I don't know if something will be available on-demand, or to avoid adverts. On-demand probably only accounts for about 5% of my viewing, but I'm steadily using it more. I'd watch more on-demand, but I think the methods of finding…

It might be worth looking at (and voting for) the channel list management idea, which might cover what you want to do.

Seems quite lively this topic. A lot of the argument seems to boil down to whether individuals would personally use DLNA, and therefore whether they think it should be a high or low priority. But, I'm still bemused why people say DLNA should be a low priority, considering it's clearly one of the most popular ideas here. If…

Yep, whatever the numbers, it's all relative though; this has about twice as many votes as say recording on-demand, USB connectivity, or YouTube support. Considering not everyone would understand what the topic title actually means, it's not doing too badly. I was just saying wondering why people thought nobody wants DLNA,…
-
Not many people may know what "DLNA" is; but I think if you ask people if they'd like to play back recordings on a different TV, PC or tablet in their house, then probably quite a lot would think it's a quite good idea. I think it's one of those things that people would use if they actually knew about it, and it was easy…

Righto. I initially got an auto-reply email from Humax, so if you've not had that then perhaps something is afoot with your email.
-
I got my first email at around 3pm on Tuesday (13th Nov), then the second at around 10pm. It's the same download link, so I guess if you downloaded after 10pm on Tuesday, then you'll have the newest version - in settings, it will show Manufacturer Software 8.5.20.
-
Kip - are you retail though? The message said retail customers should contact Humax; so presumably there'd be a different update for BT or TalkTalk customers.
-
FAT isn't the same as FAT32, so maybe try reformatting the USB stick. I put the BIN file in the root folder of my USB stick, and it didn't mind that I had other files on it.
-
I heard a rumour that everyone will be posted permanent markers, and will have to scribble out the "yo".
-
Me too, I've installed the update twice - Humax sent me two emails, the second said there was an issue with the initial download. Anyway, I've installed the second update, and it now shows Manufacturer Software version 8.5.20. Fingers crossed.
-
I've downloaded the update, but can't actually work out how to install it from the USB - sticking in the USB, or rebooting with USB inserted don't seem to do anything. Has anyone else installed it from USB, and is there some trick to doing it?
-
If you didn't spot in the other thread; there's an update on how to get the fix here: http://community.youview.com/youview/...
-
Could you also confirm if we can contact Humax by email too? It's just that I'd have difficulty making a phone call during work hours.
-
Thanks for posting the updates, it's saving others making a long pointless phone call. Since it was mentioned originally (in this thread) that code for the update came from Humax, it's a bit wierd they seem not to know about the fix or even the problem.
-
Curious. Perhaps the box has developed good taste?
-
Good idea, maybe Status Quo would take time out from 'rocking all over the world' to help out on the forum.
-
On the second point about losing channels, quite a few others have experienced a similar problem, and it's been discussed a lot in this thread. http://community.youview.com/youview/... Ignore the channel numbers mentioned in the heading, the channels that you lose seem to vary from place to place. Anyway, YouView have said…

Yep, the 'software update' thread is a good example of people wanting answers. What may work is to tell people YV won't be reading every post, and point them in the direction of the YV support contact details if they need a direct answer to their question. But yes, hopefully moderators won't be required; I guess time will…
-
It can easily go down that path, but I think a lot depends on how moderators choose to moderate. If they take the approach that they're 'exerting authority', then people won't like that. I'm a MVP/moderator on a peer-to-peer forum for some business software. It has similarities to this forum; representatives from the…
-
I've noticed this before the update too; happens most often when I open the EPG. It's not helped by the remote being a bit picky; as I have to point it at the box with absolute precision for it to respond, so I don't always know if it's the remote or the box.
-
If the spec is anything to go by, it suggests USB playback will be implemented at some point, but perhaps not the ability to export (archive) to other devices. USB mass storage devices (For presentation of content from USB drives. No requirement to export content.) I'm guessing there might be obstacles to an export…

As a relative newbie, I'm glad to see this being recognised, and that it isn't "normal" for this forum (or previous incarnations). The thing that has bugged me most is when an argument takes over a thread, often on a tangent, and the original idea/question/problem is never actually responded to. On the whole though,…

My suggestion is to plug in a USB webcam and mic and superimpose your image on the screen, so you could: - dance alongside your favourite celebs on I'm a minor celebrity, come dancing on ice with me - give Piers Morgan a virtual punch - be the 5th TellyTubby (I'm sure this probably already exists, and someone will give me…
