Do Vodafone provide email or do you have to use alternatives?

I don't think this is still the case, the latest firmware for the HH6(smart hub) mentions "Features enhancements for Multicast and uPNP". I have just bought a Wifi extender TP-Link RE210 (2.4gHz, 5gHz & 1Gbit port), set it up, connectected it to the youview box and just recorded 2 channels(Eden & Nat Geo Wild)…

You've lost me there Dave.

Sounds a bit like Triggers broom!

redchiz, I did say this with a slight "tongue in cheek", but if the likes of Netflix, Amazon & Nowtv, see the future is in "on demand" and that content will be king, Netflix & Amazon both showing quite a determination to produce thier own home grown content. Mr M showing some of his own content on nowtv, cheaper than the…

How long before the dishes disappear from the sides of houses, if you've got a decent broadband connection, the old antenna, with its fixed channels, will ultimately be consigned to the scrap heap. It will still be useful for third world countries, to transmit fixed channels over wide areas that don't/can't have a very…

Roy, Does it obscure the bottom third of Racheal?

I thought Video 2000, was even better, but it all happened a long time ago, lets hope that Youview don't take a similar time to make the current version, at the very least, workable.
-
Could be battle fatigue, quite a lot of talk about the update and not much action.

How unpleasent, you asked me a question & I gave you an honest reply, if you want more details the Onkyo has 5.1 surround sound, 4 HDMI + 2 optical inputs & 1 HDMI output/input, connected to a 39" Panasonic TV, 5 * 100 watts RMS output driving Mission speakers various other ports including a USB for storing & playing…

Roy It's an Onkyo reciever, so the answer is text on the led display.
-
When we were young children, we were read books that were predominatly pictures with brief notes, as we grew up we learnt to read and the pictures became less important, because the text and its presentation was more informative and the need for pictures became less important. Oh dear!
-
These are images in the MyBT youview app, and show that this problem has been thought about previously by BT, and they chose to display both tile & list, for a greater customer choice.
-
Keep it simple, one way(the third way) would be to use a layout similar to the programme guide with tiles replacing the channel headers and the recording details replacing the channel listings, this would require minimum key presses to select a recording. Change the fast scroll feature that is currently used to skip…

"Spreadsheets are XY, like the new recordings UI.", semantics, It depends how they are used, my investment & budget are set out in columns & rows with headers & totals, just like a normal balance sheet.
-
Over the centuries we have chosen to document data in the standard rows & columns, eg bills, invoices, registers, spreadsheets etc, this is not without good reason, they are easy to view, understandable, easy to search, easy to sort, etc. Why are we now being lead down the path of pseudo tablet format, which is more akin…

Daniel Ah! choice, not Hobsons choice, how revolutionary, if the marketing people get hold of this idea, thus pleasing all of the customers/potential customers would be their nirvana!
-
Only for non recordable boxes, I wonder why?

Well said, keep chipping away, this is a beta issue and comments like this, give the developers feedback, so that they can er develope (improve) it.

It would be very useful if the BBC local news channel was updated to HD so that, for most of the time the channel up/down button would suffice . I am in the East Midlands and I bumped into one of thier local camera men, who said that his filming was done in a minimum of 1080p and then because the local studios were not…

jmb, sorry for the mis-understanding I was not, definately not, refering to your post about DT, I thought it was funny. I was refering a previous comment, which now seem to have been deleted, along with a lot more postings.

Jonesh - I don't think this refers to you, I think it refers to, what seemed like a bar room brawl, yesterday, which was started by barbed one liner, that was clearly intended to invoke mayhem, unfortunately it succeeded. This clearly was not in line with Keiths quote " normally inclusive, supportive and informative…

My reference to the redbutton+ service was as bit of a red herring, my point was to demonstrate that any new system /interface affecting youview customers needs to take account of all customers needs and ensure that, as far as practically possible, it is usable & functional for everyone. The views of the tech savvy are…
-
My comments were directed at the previous text based system, where in the news section, the travel information & finance sections are either missing or greatly reduced. Also when viewing other news sections, to view the text based news sections, requires a great deal of key presses to view news items that are lower down…

The current trend for graphical interfaces is OK if you have a touch screen, Keyboard and/or a mouse, this is not the case with youview, The humble remote control only has 4 user defined function keys(R,G,B, & Y) + a few dedicated ones, a set of cursor keys, enter, del & back, all of which are designed around an indexation…

As an alternative to mass emmigration to Hull, opt for a HDMI dongle such as Amazon Fire or Roku, for your Youtube fix, very much cheaper(about £35) and a bigger variety of apps.
-
70% looks fine, and should not cause any problems with overload, sorry, I think the problem is elseware.
-
Another option, it could be signal overload, you quote 100% quality but what is the signal strength, if it is approaching 100% it could be that the planes interference could push it over the (digital) edge, and cause pixelation. The box should cope with this, but it is not always the case.

I think with the recent upping of the standard for FTTC from 40 Mbts to 52 Mbts, will at least give more people access to BT UHD services, which require a minimum speed of 44 Mbts.
-
All I need now is for the local BBC news to be broadcast in HD and, as far as I am concerned, I will only have a minimal requirement to watch in SD.
