That was a good call, thanks. It works from the TV USB when set-up, just requires mains juice the first time you switch it on to do the set-up and downloads.
-
Ok, all working and I'm quite impressed with it. Only downside is that the USB power from the TV doesn't power the dongle. I'm surprised because it's got a USB port that specifically used for power (charging 3D goggles - what happened to them?!). It's configureable and set to on on standby. There may be another option…

Dongle it is then I guess. This one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08XVVPXX4/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c2_x_2_t?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=DTM24990PYNX9KV99MXW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=3a5bcc6c-6c37-4d24-8b48-3796a8da2b53&pf_rd_i=5157838031

Sure, but why is a dedicated dongle any better? If it can be updated (can it?) why can't the software in my PVR be updated? There are dozens of apps, it's not cool that any one of them at any time can decide that they're going to change and not make their change compatible with hardware.
-
I'm an innocent, I imagined the point of an app is that it can be updated without having to also buy new hardware. We're being had aren't we ? Can't buy new hardware just because one content provider has decided to change their particular software.
-
and now this Unfortunately we cannot [update the app to accommodate ITV's changes], ITV have stated that for all older models, even other than Humax, ITV hub will be no longer available, you can get more info from them, they will confirm this.
-
This doesn't look too good - blame the other guy Thank you, I am not sure if you are aware, that ITV are making huge software changes to there Apps, meaning sometime this year, for all older models including Humax, the ITV will be no longer available, you will still be able to access some programmes with those issues…
-
Actually just had a email back - very quick - asking me to test other apps to see if they work. Presumably checking my internet connection. iPlayer, MY5, Netflix all work fine
-
Sadly, it already cabled.
-
Well it seems that the Humax forum isn't as active as this one - no answer... I've emailed Humax support, if I get an answer, I'll post it here for info
-
Thanks, this stuff is pretty flaky it seems. I have an ITV app on my TV, I might try that if it can't be fixed. Though it needs a cable running to my network switch.
-
Dang you're correct! I'll try the Humax forum. Interesting that these problems are occurring on different systems...

Hi Sarah, I'm seeing the same problem now when trying to watch some ITV Hub programmes. Sanditon and McDonald & Dodds are the current culprits. The adverts start (usually Dominos pizza) then as it goes to the programme it fails with an 'whoops, what's going on here?' message. Occasionally the programme will eventually…
