Roy, I hadn't notice. Very sharp of you. If someone were to decide to register two different IDs at roughly the same time because they have nothing better to do than troll - and I'm not suggesting for a moment that this is true here - you think they'd not use uppercase in both IDs wouldn't you. Doing so would be genuinely…

Oh no it's not ...... :)

I must be getting old because I find the BT app used as both a planner and remote record very easy to use and I'm pleased to have it. It's perfect for the Pro and if it ain't broken why fix it. I also find this web site perfectly adequate.

Good grief friends .... what has this harmonious village held together by a common bond come to .... "We don't need no education We don't need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teacher, leave them kids alone Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone" Jeff

I had lockups on one of my boxes today and whilst the TV was still on I smart-switched the BT box off for a minute or two and repowered several times and it was still locked when switching on again. Eventually it cleared but I was repeating the same thing over again. It only jumped back into life when I sighed and…

Perhaps you simply have a faulty box.

Hi, I'm probably tempting fate but neither of my two boxes have locked for a few days now. They are connected via cable to a local unmanaged network switch and then into a wifi extender. I have also tried to remember to stop them reaching the 12 hour slumber point without being switched off and on thus resetting the…

Fwiw, if you have travelled so far then it seems counter intuitive to me to use the Pro’s imbedded app for Netflix or anything else other than Youview gui initiated players. I have no evidence but cannot believe that the Youview box Netflix app would be the same experience as say an Apple TV or TV imbedded Netflix…

Hi, I have two boxes and both take it in turns to behave this way. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but my solution is put each into a smart plug and when it happens I switch the power off for a while and power it back on again and after it goes through it’s initiation process it’s fine for another day or so. I…

Not you at all - "it's not you - it's me". I'm beginning to get a twitch every time I post .... to see what treasures I receive .... :) It's my sense that you aren't a "heat seeker" for the sake of it as such and perhaps are happy to buy and update stuff when it seems wortwhile rather than just because it is new and…

Thanks Roy, It hadn't occured to me that it would impose that long so please just ignore the request. I perfectly understand. :) Jeff

Hi Roy,I know it's simply because I'm a non-attender but what I'd love to read if you feel inclined and nothing better to do is a thread or post which outlines what TV and related products you now use and why. You are clearly exceptionally interested and knowledgeable about all this stuff that it might and would be useful…

Totally agree with your's and Roy's observations. I suspect but do not know that if they bit the bullet and locked in to basic subscription a single live stream at a time then this would enable them to offer exisiting customers either a reduced price sweetener to stay with an increased price multi stream option for…

You persist in contorting my posts into things I haven't said or you struggle to understand. You manage to contort my posts into meaning the opposite to what I thought I said. I didn't dismiss "the collapse in the share price of the World's largest streaming company by more than a third in one day and nearly…

Exactly right. This is the standard lazy journalistic stuff one sadly regularly reads. The issue is actually the opposite reported. It is that Neflix enjoyed an unexpected temorary injection of unexpected and in a way "free" and unplanned funds from the pandemic a percentage of which will obviously stop. It needn't…

Unable to clarify. I think you were asking Rob P?

I would prefer a Chinese t You have perfectly made my point for me. Shangri-La is a mythical place that is supposed to always be the better place than where we are ever currently. So like the donkey with a carrot on a stick in front of him to encourage forward movement - it is and always will be unreachable. You…

I susupect - but of course do not know - that if Youview decided to upsticks shrug and give up that if they simply told all exisitng customers via a screen flash that they could pay £1 per month to retain the Youview servers etc or not have it - then a sufficient number would be prepared to pay to make it a low-level…

I agree mostly Darren, but being old and coming from a hi-tech industry it seems the me that manufacturers feel this compelling pressure to update and improve when often very little really needs changing but that each change seems to bring unintended consequencies with respect to stability. What often previously…

Thanks, I use these in tandem, as though it were a single 8 channel recorder and to make that easier one is paired with the BT RC and the other isn't. That might explain the power settings difference. My main concern are the other issues.
-
As stated they are absolutely identical. However since the fw update both boxes regularly lock and freeze - pretty much daily - and both need disonnecting from the mains and reconnecting. Sometimes several times before they become responsive. The other most common fault is refusing to invoke the home menus. The issue I…

Hi Sarah, I have two identical boxes side by side, and on exactly the same FW version but one allows economy power setting the other doesn't have it as an option. It seems odd! Jeff
-
Thanks,I think I'd detected a growing but perhaps incorrect impression that it was being suggested that the box could be bought for a single payment and thought it wise to flesh out why this might be incorrect. Jeff

Roy, I think you are overlooking the practicialities of the wider contract. He has an annual agreement for which he has signed an obligation to pay for if he doesn't exercise his right to cancel during the "cooling off" period. If a customer in compliance with the agreement as you envisage decided to make a single…
-
So, as I said .... it is a recoverable box and only becomes the subscribers property to retain and do as they wish after the final subscription is paid ........... :)
-
Thanks Roy, Your correction of my post seems to be a presumption rather than on your reading of the actual contract but ironically you seem to have even contradicted your own earlier correction of my post! ;) You said in your linked post that ownership passed after 14 days of commencement of the contract rather than the…
-
Thanks Roy,Can you post the wording as I'd be interested to see it please. Without reading it I presumed that the ownership was contingent on the contract being completed as this would seem the most logical approach of the agreement and that if for any reason it wasn't then the ownership remained with the service provider…
-
I'm afraid you are mistaken and the earlier post is correct. At the end of the first contract the ownership of the box passed contractually and irrevocably to the customer. It was his/her property and at that point no one can take it away. The follow on contract can say whatever it wants but it is simply uneforceable…

I also have two but sadly use them side by side as an 8 tuner! Suprisingly I don't watch everything I record! :)
