I had forgotten about maintenance mode updates in the different stages. This box has simply worked up to now but I remember the first boxes when I was a Beta tester! I will try that when I have time later but was wondering if there was going to be a later release for my box which corrected the problem.
-
But the software is the latest available to me and has stopped me recording anything. Box suddenly useless to me. It worked perfectly until the 'improvements'. I can't find any fix.
-
I find my BT box had been updated and the Record button no longer works, I can't find how to record anything now. I am not going to do a factory reset as that will wipe my recordings. Details are Box is DTRT2110 sw is component 3.7.42 manufacturer 32.51.0 I am very unhappy as was unaware the SW would change and lost the…

This topic has appeared in various forms since the trial. I am sure DNLA was in the original spec. However, if it was going to happen Youview would have said? I would use it if it was there, if only between my two Youview boxes, one from the trial and one from TalkTalk.
-
I heartily agree. As can be seen this is a long standing want and was in the original spec. There were lots of arguments about the difficulties but many others have solved them.
-
Thanks for that link, I suppose 7 months is quite short!
-
This has been such a long standing topic that one assumes there is no intention of implementing either DLNA server or client. The lack of any official contribution to this debate also presumably reflects the lack of interest? I would actually like both as we happen to have two Youview boxes, a FetchTV box and a NAS. One…

I cant remember all and it is not convenient to check back as the sun where I am, the Italian Lakes, beckons!

As can be deduced from the many threads and comments on the Iplayer issue it has been around from when the boxes were first launched over a year ago. It has been pointed out that it is unique to Youview. It has been pointed out that it is a very fundamental faliing. The net result is nothing happens and noone takes…
-
I will log more details in future but: 1) As you say, the problem is unique to Youview, same means of connection on a PC or Tablet has no problem. 2) We are TalkTalk with a HG533 ADSL router with a speed up of about 9MBps down and 0.83 up as reported by my SamKnows box.. 3) We watch HD 4) The buffering is generally about…

Please can Youview staff tell us when this problem will be resolved? Has anyone even accepted ownership of the problem. it has been with us for a year now.
-
And probably wont work! I have been through all the reset modes, had a new box for other reasons and guess what; Iplayer still hangs.
-
It seems the only solution as the problem has existed from the beginning and neither party is prepared to take ownership. I dont understand how a consumer device such as still has this problem.
-
I dont have other PVRs with Iplayer but it seems to me to be the Youview implementation that it is at fault. I have a Samknows white box that monitors the broadband performance and that is consistenly about 9Mbs and there are no dropouts etc recorded. Iplayer works OK on the PCs and tablets. It is only Iplayer on Youview…
-
Glad that it is that near.
-
I do. I actually have an RF feed via cable which goes into an old Humax PVR. The output of that is then mixed with an FM aerial signal and then boosted round the house to a Humax Youview box in the lounge which is also in 'series' with a DVD recorder. There is also a TalkTalk Youview box in the bedroom. They all work…
-
the actual software is being pushed unlike you going to Microsoft to pull them?
-
Iplayer still hangs!
-
push rather than pull?
-
You can volunteer to have your line monitored for a while and they give you this box which logs events and takes speed measurements at intervals. I looked as much as possible to check they are only taking statistics! I can look at parameters and see what has happened. I have to pay for the power to run the box and it does…
-
I have just had Iplayer lock a short way into a program, there was no other traffic on my line. I now have a Samknows white box so will look later today if it has noted any faults. The box is two days old being a replacement for my trial box and it claims it is up to date on both Youview and Demand Players software…
-
I have a Humax, from the trial, and a Huwei from having renewed my TalkTalk Plus. However, I don take TalkTalk content as there is enough to watch without paying. From my experience the answers I can give are: 1) The Humax shows a TalkTalk option and it registered. This immediately blocked the other one as only one box can…

I now have a new shiny box from Humax, they were extremely helpful. This box is working OK and seems to work OK from High ECO startup as well. I am still convinced my problems started with a software update but this probably happened due to timing issues with HDMI on the original trial hardware? HDMI now works, It seems (I…

Children children, please!
-
There is the Full Maintenance Recovery mode where you can do a software reload whilst keeping your recordings. Everything else is lost. I have just used that to see if it fixed an HDMI problem I have, achieved nothing so Humax are exchanging the box.
-
I did a complete software reload, one of the reset options is reload software and restart whilst keeping recordings.
-
Software written to be dependent on critical timings is defective.
-
Obviously but I have got to bow to their superior, if inconsistent, opinion. Anyhow, it is just possible that on the day new sw appeared it failed!
-
My Humax box said it update today, not checked, updated.
-
I have read so much I am not sure if I missed anything! As you note, believing it is a software issue has given me a sore head. I have just returned a warrenty form for a new box so hope that works. I asked if the hardware had changed in that area but he did not really know. The last thing I did before ringing Humax was to…
