Thanks @Visionman ! I'm still following everything, and testing where involved, but overall it seems there is rarely anything worth me commenting on, or chipping in with, here publicly these days, so I am content to be a largely silent observer. It would be so much more pleasing of course if that were because YouView was…

Personally I see this as cautiously encouraging news that this box has finally been released. Will I be signing up to BTTV to get one - absolutely not!If one becomes available though through other more suitable routes for me (be that retail, ebay etc, or perhaps one to trial in due course ;) ) then I would be interested…

Hi @SomersetBob - note there is actually a specific remote code that the Harmony Remotes can use to go straight to MyTV without the need to setup a button to run a slower sequence of presses. Before that existed I too used a sequence but switch to the quick/instant direct code in early 2013 when Youview sorted that.…

I must admit the first thing I do when the box comes on is try to dismiss the menu (old or new style) as quickly as possible to get to a clear screen. I then either watch live TV, enter a channel number to change channel, press guide to set some recordings or look for something, or press the programmed button on my harmony…

I could no doubt write (Youview) a list, but then we've been there before ;)

I've found this new layout to be perfectly fine in comparison to what we had before. Rather than a horizontal menu you now have a vertical arrangement but broadly speaking functionally it is equivalent. So so far this feels like a bit of furniture rearrangement - hopefully it will not turn out to be just moving around deck…

We are still working our way through content on NowTV - not always the best but it is keeping us entertained and only costing £1.50 a month at the moment. I keep thinking we will run out of something to try on NowTV and then switch back to Netflix for a while (we enjoyed Suits through to series 7 when we were last on…

Yes, worked fine for me when I set it up yesterday for my T2000 box. A test recording set via the app then made it to the box fine.

Hi @deedee36 - I've had rather mixed results with NowTV via YouView since it launched a few days ago:* on day 1 I could access the full player, see my watch list and play items from 'continue watching'; I could not however actually access items in the watch list directly as it would just sit with the spinning coloured…

I'm pleased to see this has appeared on my retail T2000 box too. Now if only one could reorganise the app tiles so it was less clicks to launch the NowTV player ;)
-
Thanks @AndyBarratt - that seems to confirm the various reviews I've read :) If Manhattan can deliver the EPG search (a feature that was inexplicably missing from YouView when it originally launched too) and a suitable mobile app, then a Manhattan T3R seems a likely excellent replacement for my ageing YouView T2000 should…

It certainly seems like BT will be left holding all the aces :(
-
This appears to be a very sad turn of events indeed! It is hard to read anything in to this but that BT will (largely) soon be (effectively) in control of YouView. Given BT will also now charge to keep a box at the end of a contract it appears they are potentially hiding behind a positive message of responsible recycling…

Freeview perhaps took some pointers from someone at YouView who helped design the route into MyTV. A long standing prime example of something that should be accessible with a single link/button press but for many is a sequence of steps (thank goodness I have a harmony remote so get there in one press). In both cases there…

Hi Roy - it worked fine for me. The steps I took were:* Visit https://www.freeview.co.uk/ * Scroll down and enter postcode in the box, then press 'check' * In the results page scroll down to just below all the available channel logos, where I see a grey bar/section for 'Details View' * Press 'Detailed View' button to get…
-
My initial negative thoughts were:* there are no visual cues that this feature exists, e.g. marks on the playback time line at 10% intervals that might hint to a user one could jump to them * given such lack of visibility of the feature surely only the smallest percentage of users will discover it and even less use it *…

Another niche use for the USB socket is to power a nano wifi bridge (e.g. the TP-Link devices people used to suggest) should you need to work around the lack of wifi support on YouView boxes (and not need multicast over wifi which can be more complicated) :)

Hi @Stevef_fr8ys - I think it has been mentioned in passing in other topics but never been its own topic, and as such has not ended up with a reference in the list. Even so I've now mentioned the need for better functionality to select/deselect all when hiding/unhiding under item 2 about channel list management. If…

Hi @robotman - as @Visionman says the YouView staff do not work weekends. Since I have a little more access than an ordinary user, I have checking your post has been incorrectly held by the forum spam filter. I've quickly educated it that that post is not spam and you are a verified user, so that post should be…

Hi @scott - indeed, I know, unfortunately there is a problem :( Unfortunately Vanilla seem to have made some sort of system change in late January. It in effect appears to be imposing a shorter character limit on posts and the top post is already beyond that limit. The limit is still quite high so not a problem for…

Looks like this could be a handy app (once they release the Android version). I particularly like the feature :)
