This is what I do on my old school Humax T1000. Partly because there's only one HDMI out and I don't want the receiver on all the time. That said, I'm beginning to hate HDMI. With our new TV we get all sorts of random auto switching betwen sources. Google seems to point to differing implementations between brands. Is there…

Can't speak to the Sports, as I've no use for it, but GofT streaming in 720p on our 4k TV doesn't look too shabby, and plenty of grunts n groans too via a pseudo SS effect.

Saved for tonight

Roy They've just bought a new house and the talk turned to new tellys etc. I'd previously recommended one of the Roku's, they being the most "agnostic" of them all. HDMI-CEC is good when it works. Our Chromecasts do what your Amazon stuff does. The BD player switches on the amp and the TV, each at the appropriate source.…

Friends here tonight say Now TV is no longer on Amazon kit?

I had a Chromecast offer of 3 months for £5 diaried for the start of S7, then when I went to do it, the offer had expired! Anyhoo, yes, they're cashing in. They'll get my brass for 3 months then if they've nothing else of interest I'll cancel it again. Have to say it's a pretty slick system they have.

Impressed with Justwatch: Hi! Thank you for reporting to us about the following movie: https://justwatch.com/uk/movie/kong-s... We’ve now added Google Play offers for this movie. We are sorry for providing wrong info & will continue to develop our content ́s accuracy! Have a nice day! Karina / JustWatch

Ha. I see what you did there ;-)
-
Sorry David :-) I blame Roy. And too much vino collapso last night.
-
Justwatch seems good, although I noticed they'd missed off availability of Kong: Skull Island (2017) on GP Movies. Gotta be a big job keeping track of content across all the UK suppliers. Easy reporting mechanism though. I've installed the app. Thanks Daniel. When you see the content legally available from a wide choice of…

I think VM was looking at used, on eBay.
-
X'd over. eBay, used.
-
Useful resource that, although I'm getting errors searching the TV section for Line of Duty. Visionman, where can you get the physical (DVD format?) LofD 1-4 for £13.99? I'd agree GP prices, in this instance, are odd - my point really was that for buy to stream, they'd got all 4 series. I've used GP since getting my first…
-
That's an excellent price
-
Ah, sorry Roy, I forgot you're en España. GP Movies are available there, but strangely, not the TV shows genre, presumably due to some licensing issue. I thought all content in the EU was supposed to be available throughout the EU? Anyhoo, don't know if you can see this, but the country availability is here:…

Excellent show. Weird how they sell the rights. S1-4 are on Google Play, to "buy" (stream) from £4.99 a pop... https://play.google.com/store/tv/show/Line_of_Duty?id=EKYjCY7t5xQ

I'm 68 this year and use voice search/control daily, on my phone and in the car. That works. I've got a basic voice capability on my TV smart remote - used it once, haven't bothered since. What I object to is the link to one particular ecosystem which is marketed aggressively by its seller. And as to "listening well" -…

Thanks redchiz. I wasn't affected and didn't know that. Thanks for the background. It was more than Amazon did when they removed Prime support from our old TV. They were quite happy to sell me a Fire TV stick/box. I told em to stuff it.
-
Chromecast is £30. All BT did was add cast support to their mobile apps, initiated via iOS or android. Not the same league at all. I've no problem with YV adding voice control via smart home. I just don't want that functionality restricted to one ecosystem. Especially when that ecosystem is operated by a company I loathe.
-
Which is why i mentioned "general accuracy with voice" and the need to support the main ecosystems.
-
Supplemental: And how come Bezos is world's third richest man?
-
So, me and the boss were sat together on the sofa the other night, talking about a party. No talk of "OK Google" nor any other variation involved. Then my phone says "fa*t, emission of wind from the an*s". No need for that kind of talk
-
All good stuff, but given the general accuracy with voice, Google Home support needs adding too. Look at auto. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are both offered by all makers with such options, and therefore cater for 90% of potential customers, whatever their preferred ecosystem I'd be surprised if it didn't happen.

If only I still was

Reviewed on the 55 version of our TV. Still no player. But HofC back on and GofT soon. Some consolation

Sorry RC, I didn't intend being harsh. I love the BBC. I'm happy to pay the licence fee to get world class content, ad free. Totally. And I wouldn't mind paying a bit more to get a free licence to those senior citizens who struggle on a basic state pension. Nor do I mind the Beeb sullying their hands with filthy lucre. It…
-
Didn't even know it did that. I tend not to search iPlayer for other channels stuff. For all its PSB history, it has a commercial arm and it's day to day activities are funded by a compulsory subscription. I see Amazon offering streaming, download, buy/rent, digital/physical - all in the same place. And I really don't see…
-
Perhaps. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. No doubt bringing in a licence check but at the same time, opening up their stuff for rent (or buy) worldwide. I had a little job for a while with an audiobook co and their dramas, Dr Who's etc etc were in demand world-wide. And these days, their stuff is already…

I'm 68 this year. Sad, but true. I'd have been well up for it. But offering a buy model ONLY for use on computers and devices was just daft. It wasn't even cast ready. I had to mirror it to the big screen. It's almost as if the Beeb has these walled garden divisions who never talk to each other
-
I see the pros and cons between owning or renting physical, and owning or renting digital, and I've done them all. Clearly, in this case, not enough wanted to own digital.
