Frustratingly there's no sign of it today. I have re-booted the box - let's see what happens!
-
The YV box is connected by HDMI, and the TV is Toslink. More juicy info from my daughter: She tells me the whistle is 'only when people speak' ie it's not continuous, and it definitely happens on both programmes and adverts. No sign of it today, yet.
-
Hi Roy, no, not yet. The next time it happens I'll give that a whirl and report back.
-
Sure, I get that too. But this is different, it's actually coming from the speakers.
-
Well, she's an E4 addict, so it's kind of hard to know if other channels are similarly afflicted... However, I'm informed she's experienced the whistle on various different programmes on E4. As I say, switching from the E4 on the YV box to E4 on the TV solves the problem, which I think exonerates both the channel and the…

"Okay I get it. There is a standard, no one abides by it." Actually, there is pretty good compliance generally. R128 is controversial/unpopular because there are major practical problems with actually implementing it for some programmes. I expect the EBU will smooth things out given enough Symposiums, canapes and cocktails…

Yes, this shows that the solution has been known about and proposed for at least the last 10 years. All that's required is for everyone to buy into the Dolby Labs vision of this and use DD sound (and therefore buy Dolby encoders and metadata processors etc!).

I've got a Huawei box connected HDMI 'surround' mode to my Sony AV amp. The Sony's set to 'auto-detect' - if it sees DD5.1 it decodes it 'as is'. If it sees DD2.0 or 'ordinary stereo' from an SD channel it automatically switches into ProLogic mode. al - yes, I do get correct 5.1 detection and mode display. I don't route…

"...currently it is a very marked difference in my AV setup. " I agree! Leaving the IP content to one side for the moment, there is a consistent difference of around 10dB between HD and SD channels which could surely be fixed? SD channels are all much the same level (and all MP2 audio afaik), and HD channels are consistent…
-
The basic problem is that the SD channels, the HD channels and the On-demand players use different audio level standards to each other. The frustrating thing is that it should be pathetically simple for the YouView software engineers to write some code to level things out - the standards are well known, published, and…

I suspect this is a general Humax problem. I used to have a Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat box. When it was connected directly to the TV via HDMI, it worked fine. When I subsequently added an AV amp and changed the connection to be HDMI from Humax to Amp and HDMI from Amp to TV, I then got a black flash 10 sec after selecting…

Are you using a Harmony remote or similar, and if so, have you programmed the IR code for direct access to MyView? If so, this may be the issue. I've found with my Huawei box that, if I go direct to MyView and then press OK to access the recordings list, I'm often not able to make the recordings play back, exactly as you…
-
I've found that, on my Huawei box, when I access MyView via the direct remote command, if I press OK I go to the top of the list BUT I can't actually play any of the recorded programmes. It doesn't matter what I select, I get no response from the box. If instead I go to MyView via the direct remote command and then choose…

I suspect Gomez is on the right lines. My Panasonic TV (a TX-P50UT50B) would pass Surround sound from my Humax Foxsat HDR to my audio system, but would only pass stereo from my Sony BluRay player (both connected to it via HDMI), so I had to take a separate optical audio out to the audio system for that. Both of these…

It's just a couple of simple Sequences, one which tells the remote to push the Skip Forward button twice, and another which presses the Skip Back button 4 times. On the Touch you can either add these Sequences as new buttons to the touch screen, or replace the normal function of one of the physical buttons. I've chosen to…

I'm certain you can program a Harmony One to do it, but I'm afraid I can't help you. Hopefully someone else here can!
-
hi radeon, Which Harmony do you have - and do you use MyHarmony to programme it? I only know how to do it for my Touch, which does use MyHarmony.
-
Exactly. I've also programmed macros for direct access to Settings and On Demand, and did have one for MyView until some kind person gave me the actual remote code for it. With that lot programmed, it's a half-decent PVR!
-
Pleased to hear that a proper fix is coming, although I've found that the macro I've programmed on my Harmony remote to skip forward 2 mins at a time (so 2 pushes to skip an ad break rather than 4) has never suffered the problem once.
-
Yes, and no, I don't get access to members.harmonyremote.com that way.
-
Thanks
-
No prob - just hoping that I might be getting the On Demand code for my Huawei too!
-
Hi Mark, Do you have a Humax or a Huawei?
-
I don't think I can do it myself because the Touch can only use MyHarmony.com for programming. I can't create an account at http://members.harmonyremote.com because I don't have a remote that uses desktop software - or am I wrong?
-
Solved. I emailed the Hex Code to Logitech tech support and they added it to the MyHarmony database. It worked a treat!
-
Hi, I have a Harmony Touch so do my 'programming' via MyHarmony. How can I get the Huawei DN370T command for MyView into my remote? Also, does anyone have discrete power on and off commands for the Huawei?
-
I have had my TT YouView box for 2 weeks now, and have had 2 instances of this happening. Most of the time it's fine. Until I found this thread I thought it was my Harmony Touch remote going berserk! Oddly, I have one recording which won't skip at all!
