Thank you for this feedback - and on a bank holiday Sunday as well. It's good to know I'm not going mad ...

Roy, One thing that I have observed is that the younger generations are much more dexterous, and they push the remote button sequences so fast that Nextgen can't keep up. Compared to a millennial's thumbs, Nextgen is very sluggish, and loses button presses. Maybe this is where the perception of "slow" that so many complain…

@Stephen, Do you have any follow-up information on this - e.g. has anyone been able to reproduce/identify/confirm this issue?
-
SWMBO has just done this by accident - 17 unwatched episodes. It is so ... stupid (her word)... that you drop back to the series page, rather than the program you've just finished watching. The fundamental issue is that "back" does not do what we universally understand "back" to be. We have smartphones, web browsers, etc.…

Roy, I actually prefer that the EPG has an end-top at the top of the list (i.e. channel 1). When I'm browsing through the EPG looking to see if there's anything interesting to watch, I use the "page up", and I prefer it to hit the top, and stop (as it is now). Don't think I've ever found anything worth watching at the…

Hmm, Keith has raised some interesting ideas, and given me food for thought. The program title is, essentially, an arbitrary text string, and as a developer, I would be very reluctant to hard-code interpretation of such arbitrary data (i.e. looking for "New:" at the beginning of the string). However, as a text string, it…

I thought there already was a metadata tag for "repeat". There certainly used to be - in the old days when "series record" meant the recorder matched the program name, and it asked if you want "new only, or new and repeats". So, isn't "New" in the program title not redundant?
-
Roy, There is so much wrong with your interpretation of the situation in this comment sub-thread, I don't know where to start. All I will say is that if you cannot discern the difference between the posters who"ask" (and therefore should stick to topic), and those who "reply" (and post in-context), then no wonder you…

Oh, I don't know ... seemed to achieve what I was aiming for.

DunkirkPie vs John Lewis, "hide channels" function, 2 weeks, over here. If you want to jump right to the specific post, it's here.

Roy, "For which there wasn't time" This is one point that still niggles in the back of my mind - what deadline were they working to ? Why was it so important to push out this Nextgen now, rather than spend another, say 6 months, bringing the functionality up to what they were replacing?
-
To all the trialists from this forum, who I am sure have peddled their wishlists and critical feedback to YV as part of the testing: If there was a chance that TV didn't pay enough attention to your comments, then at least now you can have a little smile, and say to them "told you so!" Silver lining, and all that ...

@churchwarden,Not only is "The tiles are here to stay" comment in your face... Yes, I agree. In fact, I expressed much the same sentiment a few days ago. Maybe any followup should be on that topic, as it seems the appropriate place ?

VM:Do you have this, MrMcg? Are you asking if I have update 27.50.0 ? Can I counter that question - do you have 27.50.0 and 27.46.0 and 27.44.0 and all the other variants that you are commenting on? (have - present tense. "had" does not count - otherwise everyone would be clear to post on the 27.44.0 forum without…

VM, "better" is subjective, just like the opinion on this update is subjective. Your continual challenge to anyone who wants to look at the alternatives is not constructive - it is confrontational and aggressive. Every person that you have challenged (recently, that I have seen) has come online with the opinion that the…

Roy, Motorways are boring, processional, and you are following the herd. Windy B roads with sharp corners are exciting, and fun to drive, and take you to wonderful off-the-map places. Maybe I'm just completely missing the point you are trying to make?
-
Want to stick with old release - how? I think most of your questions (if not all, and then some) will be covered in the topic: https://community.youview.com/youview/topics/how-to-prevent-your-box-updating-to-next-generation
-
I can hear the scrabbling of keyboards - several people are about to tell you that the "Related Conversations" is part of the forum software, and is hosted by GetSatisfaction - nothing to do with the Youview platform developers.
-
Actually, I think sydney got an absolute gem of a box, for a steal of a price. If I could get a couple of those, my "Nextgen" boxes would go in the cupboard- get the occasional check when an update comes out to see if it's caught up to "Original Gen" functionality yet, but otherwise mothballed. I'm not driven by…

Already used a link to this topic. Could be very useful ...

anybody know how i can undo this update? been there, asked that, 'fraid not. btw, have you read this ?
-
Ah, this is a GetSatisfaction (providers of the forum software) special. So, are the stack-exchange sites also hosted by GetSatisfaction then ? They have a post/reply/comment structure, just like this. Also, the in-built search is pretty hopeless. I have had more success using Google, but you must include in your search…

are you stating you don't know what your actually recording? In many households, there is more than one person setting recordings. Those series recordings can run a long time. Recording are usually set from the EPG - which is (roughly) a text list, with text descriptions - no images. It makes a lot of sense and…
-
As we already know that Nextgen is keylogging everything... What would be really cool is if the box studied the heuristics of the user interaction (button presses), and noticed oddities (e.g. slowly scrolling up and down the settings, as if hunting for an option they cannot see). When this trigger was detected, a…

@Barrie w, Seriously though, after all the negative feedback that is flooding into this forum, and the ensuing "I like", "I hate" roundabout, I thought a poll (or vote) would be a good way to collect all these opinions in a quantitative way. You can read about it here. To summarise my conclusion; there are approx 2.5…

He can't do that Roy - rule 4. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd happily oblige ;)
-
Daniel, Yes, I am aware of that. In fact, we chose to roll that way. Different household members have different series recordings, and some are not as good at cleaning up after themselves (if you are a parent, you'll know what I mean). So, it made sense to leave the box to manage it's own storage space. And it worked,…

Thanks for the reply Stephen. Makes a lot of sense, but the spec does leave something open to interpretation, and mine was that a recording being watched should be pretty sacrosanct. It's a BT T2100 box (Humax). I can't remember the exact message given when the playback stopped, but I think it was the same message you get…

I've checked, and Tim seems correct. You can change your profile url - but it is a one-time-only change. And I've changed mine.

I have read this phrase from several sources recently. Glad to see it have a topic of it's own. What I am getting slightly fed up about is it being repeated so brusquely to new members and posters. Many people are coming here for the first time, annoyed and frustrated about a product they own being changed - without their…
