I'm wanting to try out this wait for 60 seconds fix and see if they are related. The symptom of sound fine then after overnight changing from SD to HD no sound in all cases seems related.

I don't agree Roy. I have not changed my setup since I initially bought my Humax YouView box and never saw this happening until a couple of years ago. Nothing had changed connection wise - just HDMI into TV - our sound is piped from the optical out on the TV directly into the Queries M4 soundbar. If I get it again, very…

That's what I do for any new thread.

Careful typing :)

It would be good to get Amazon onto the platform as well as YouTube. Just hope they don't dawdle over it.

Always like to keep the little YouView elves busy

Thought I'd re-open this thorny can of worms and ask if we will EVER get YouTube (HD preferably) on the YouView Platform as users on ALL their platforms have been asking for it for eons. Having a rummage about in the community forums brought up a few surprising entries, here is one from Jesse from support over 5 years…

Sounds like it could be related to the problem. Makes sense.

Ok, I'll republish any times that it happens. Regarding your point about it being config and not YouView I strongly disagree with it. We've had many years trouble free use of the YouView box until this started to happen - our config has never changed. It appears to be a change that the team has done with a low level audio…

Any update from YouView about a possible fix for this problem? It is extremely annoying and does imply that they don't do enough testing before releasing new software.
-
It doesn't happen every time but only when we've first turned the box on from overnight standby and flicking to BBC HD from a standard definition channel. Only thing I can think it is would be an occasional overnight update/refresh or automatically done tidy up / housekeeping task scheduled to be done now and again. Not a…

Can YouView PLEASE fix this annoying problem. There is definitely something wrong with how it handles sound and it seems to be linked to one of the boxes automatic overnight updates/channel refresh.

Sorted it! Router was fine, it was the pair of homeplug Ethernet adapters (Solwise 1200AV SmartLink PowerLine HomePlug AV2) that had lost the plot. Power off then back on for both of them and the Internet connection was restored. While I was working it out I had noticed that several other posts on the community have…

This is STILL happening with the NextGen interface and the current version (28.23 Humax). It has happened again this morning - 22/5/2017 7:15am - when I first turned on the box on 001 and then changed the channel to 102. 1/2 second delay and then NO SOUND on HD and any other channel. The only thing I can link it to could…

Just a quick question... Why did you use the ISP to brand the retail boxes with this new interface??? As many posts here say, the reason they bought retail boxes was specifically to be ISP agnostic but now you've forced them to become just another ISP branded box. Explain yourself and while you're at it tell us why you…

Had tried two different remotes Roy as I thought the same. Nope, still happened so software not hardware. Also, reading about the next-gen problems it seems it's just a thin shiny coat and not the leap in features and UI design that I'd hoped for.
-
Still happening at least once every two weeks now... What the hell is happening with Youview these days and their "support" team? Couple of days ago my expensive retail box started to lock on it's scrolling up and down the EPG as well as constantly repeating the digit 1 when I was changing channel by typing in the channel…

Don't have the Next Gen UI myself yet (Retail box) but hopefully now they have reworked the underlying core using HTML5 based rendering we can actually get some serious fixes/enhancements done on the platform. Totally agree with the "No box left behind" policy as it shows commitment to the platform and their customers but…

Ha!, sorry Roy/Keith. Been a while since I've been active in this forum... :)

January/February 2017 sounds better to me

Interesting development... Haven't been watching the YouView scene for ages as they totally abandoned retail boxes... So Talk Talk will get it next week according to Engadget and BT/Retail next Summer. Seems a bit different that retail boxes (mine) have to wait as we work independently of ISP suppliers. Suppose its to…

Everything will be fixed and lovely in the new sparkly system!! :)
-
Wasn't aware of the new system because I stopped following the YouView platform and community a long time ago. Interesting development and it's about time they adopted HTML5. Like all the fluff and management speak from them over the years I'll wait and see but any platform change is better than none. Noticed the comment…

New system?

But if a device is connected to a WiFi router then couldn't it also be discoverable as a casting receiver device? If not then hey ho, it was worth a try :)
-
Has any movement been made with the Youview box to support casting? I can guess the answer from the regular contributors and the official reply would be something along the lines of "We can't discuss anything at the moment... soz".
-
@Joe. No richtea for me, Hobnobs all the way.
-
@Ash. This is exactly what i would love to see with NowTV because as you say its totally independant to the ISP used by the YouView box (BT/TT/Retail/whatever).

Couldn't have put it better myself Joe.
