As there are only three types of boxes, Retail, TT and BT, don't really see why they can't be announced exactly that way. My box also claims to have updated twice in May, but still has the same s/w as it had in April, so these announcements do just confuse customers.

Hate to have to report this, but my box stuck on ff last night again. Only once, but if did still happen. Mrs wasn't happy to see the outcome of Broadchurch unfold at high speed. Box has the update.

BBC1, 2, ITV and Ch4 weren't on Sky's analogue platform at all. 5 was, as it widened it's coverage area. It was only when Sky moved to Digital that the other broadcasters came on board.

A quite easy fix would be, at the point of booking a recording the channel, transmitter and tuner are all booked as well. By that I mean, you book a recording from BBC1 NI HD at 21.00 - the box assigns a tuner to record from that MUX using it's MUX ID. If the box is then on another transmitter, with a different ID at the…

I have discovered that the box will consistently fail recordings if you are viewing services from two different transmitters. As has been discussed elsewhere, here in Northern Ireland, there is no ITV1 catch up, as my parents have perfect reception of DTT from Scotland, I retuned their box to receive ITV1 etc from the…

Brian, when you say signal booster are you sure it wasn't a power supply for a mast head amp ? If the amp is no longer being powered, then obviously it won't be working and you will lose weaker channels. Worth checking.

Tanja, I've had the same issue with episodes of The Middle, recorded off TV3 Ireland. Box records 1 min of programme and then stops. Duration shows as 30 mins in guide, but 1 min in the recording duration when it starts.

Last night for some odd reason my box started to record Ripper Street from BBC1 NI HD, 23 mins into the programme, it's set to record the entire series and recorded the first episode with no problem, I only noticed because the other half was watching something on UTV and the box flashed up "now recording ripper street" at…

It's worth noting that the ITV Player catch up, does work on the BT Vision platform in Northern Ireland, if you signed up through BT and feel you've been misled you could ask them to swap you to the Vision platform instead. You will lose the live HD channels and RTE, but you will gain the ITV Content.

Thanks for those links Keith.

Well, obviously, "best picture" is subjective, but as it's a domestic display and it's a domestic box, I've used the various adjustments available on the set, that give me, the person watching it, a picture I find acceptable. However, even the bog standard default settings on the TV give a much better picture with a 1080i…

The scart comparison wouldn't be any use as it's not an HD output but a fixed SD output. I've calibrated the input to get the best picture from the box, but it is noticably worse than my BT Vision Box or Blue Ray DVD player which are both set to 1080i. I had exactly the same issue with the Vision 2 box when it first…

Hi Tim, your Sky Box receives those channels in a totally different way from your YouView box, via a dish, whilst YouView is "over the air" via an aerial. Have you checked the signal quality and strength on your YouView box? There could be an issue with the dtt signal your box is being fed with. This would explain the…
