Ok, so I've paid my £35 and upgraded my Youview box to the latest 2014 (DTR-2100 version). And.... problem solved! For me at least. So far anyway - I was able to watch the complete hour long episode of Silk last night on iPlayer in HD with no problem whatsoever. This would have been impossible on my old Youview box. Which…

Still happening to me too. Tried watching 'Restaurant Man' last night, and got the spinning doughnut after only a few minutes! Incredibly frustrating - my download speed is 72Mb - and I DID NOT get the problem with the BT Vision box, only since getting the YouView box.

This thread has gone quiet - am I the only one still suffering this issue? Or has there been a 'fix'...

Ok, so I thought I give this a killer test - I watched episode 1 of 'By Any Means' in HD last night on iPlayer. It got all the way through to the very last 5 minutes until the dreaded spinning circle appeared :-( To recap, I'm on BT Infinity 2 with 72Mb download and 14Mb upload - and I DON'T get buffering problems with any…

Actually, I tried this a couple of months ago and it made no difference.. :-( Peter

Judging by the amount of noise in this conversation thread, the issue must be damaging the reputation of YouView - in today's competitive market, if it was my company brand, I'd be pulling out all the stops to get the issue resolved. I find it astounding that nobody appears to be doing so this in this case.. !!

I suspect there are a lot more people that are affected by this issue but either don't user iPlayer, or they just don't complain about it. I certainly find the problem frustrating, but don't use iPlayer any more than the other 'on demand' players such as ITV player and 4OD (which both work fine by the way). Certainly, the…

Watched Dragons' Den last night, and it froze three times on iPlayer. Could watch it fine on my laptop however. Just to re-iterate, I never had a problem at all with BBC iPlayer when I used the BT Vision box, these problems have only surfaced since I 'upgraded' to a YouView box. None of the other on-demand players are…

I think you'll find that the latency yo-yo's around anyway, but interesting that you're losing 12mbps of bandwidth over the powerline. I guess it would be worth attempting to connect the YouView box direct to the router to compare, but my guess is that it won't solve the problem. Like you, I was working fine with my BT…

Needless to say, the reset didn't work :-(

And another for Windows Phone please!
-
Ok - spoke to BT this morning, and they've suggested I 'reset' the YouView box (i.e. select the reset option under 'device management' from the menu screen). Apparently this has cured the problem for some. I'll try that later on, but my gut feel is that it won't solve the problem (and I'll lose all my recordings to boot!).…

It works fine on a PC or laptop (both wired or wireless). It also worked fine on a BT vision box. I'm afraid I've no option to try another ISP.

Ok, just to add to this, I have the same problem - specifically with iPlayer on the YouView box. I somehow wish I'd not upgraded my BT Vision box to YouView, as that worked flawlessly! For reference, my Infinity connection gives me 63Mbps download, and 14MBps upload.
