Nope, but I'm happy for it to support something at 1/7th of the price, or less.
-
I would concur with that Roy. Similar experience from the Dot and Echo we have, when you check the logged 'conversation' via our Android app.
-
That was already discussed in previous posts 4 days ago.
-
It listens quite well for a loudspeaker ;)
-
What Visionman said. Lock, stock & 2 smoking. I'm not saying all pensioners will prefer voice over buttons Mike, but some will. As a parent of a severely physically disabled son it's a huge thumbs up from me.

Come on redchiz, It's a pilot with the Echo units, You're talking about sole tie ups and narrow Dev paths. Read ur own posts. There's nothing in the article to indicate what you're posting.
-
Hold on a sec redchiz, where in the article does it say they are locked into a partnership/sole-supplier set with Amazon? There's nothing to stop Google, or Apple, or anyone else providing the necessary hooks to make this work for them. After all we have an iPhone app, and an android app. This is a pilot at this point. I…

Who knows why they chose it? However, at this point the echo devices have a 70% market share vs 23% for the Google devices. I realise that will change - and no doubt the apple options will also come into the slugging match. I just think they have gone for the one with more commercial footprint. Whichever option they chose,…

Yeah, I know - and you can say that about pretty much every voice control unit. That doesn't mean they are not useful - especially to the elderly or disabled. Until we get our own HAL 9000 units, commands are going to have to be simple for units like the Echo/Alexa to interpret. I think until you actually have one to use,…

Yep, and its not just dexterity. My in-laws have a morbid fear of the remote on modern TV's and STB's I have tried to get them to use a number of boxes to view guide and record stuff. Absolutely impossible. What you and I would consider simple baffles them. Alexa - however - easy peasey. I realise so far with tem its just…
-
Were discussing this coz it's out there as a future, option. Re button pressing - when it comes to my Octogenarian in-laws, yes, absolutely. Controlling Alexa is a piece of p####, by comparison.
-
Nope. Selfish actually :p Note- I am not arguing with you, I'm egging you on ;) Come on, it's the price of an All-in-one remote and opens up a whole host of other possibilities. I understand if you have other options this'd be frustrating, but the Alexa option is not just voice command. There's all the other IFTTT stuff…

Really not worth the effort to argue with you. I suspect if you had the Amazon devices already this'll be a good plan from YV. Yah-ho
-
....and that's sarcasm yeah?
-
My Echo devices already link to miHome sockets via a wired hub, so what you see as an issue, , err, isnt.
-
Btw, Amazon currently have the Dot for sub 45quid. Fill ur boots folks.
-
What peeps seem to forget here is that simple Alexa voice commands should reduce button presses and remove some of the 'Broken' stuff anyway. I'm all for this proposal.
-
How do you work that out redchiz. It's linking YV box to IoT/IFTTT. Which opens up all kind of possibilities. I already have two echo devices and they are great. What YV I'd doing here is cutting out the h/w and s/w Dev for a whole load of future stuff and getting a load of other good stuff thrown in for free.
-
I feel jims pain here, to the point where I have given up hiding channels. I can't speak for other providers but with the TT box you get all the channels they offer - free terrestrial or PFV IP channels. So that's all the entertainments channels, sports channels, movie channels, adult channels, shopping channels etc etc.…

That's old news Roy. Bucking the trend somewhat, the UK is the only place that Windows Phone Market start has increased. Not that it'll be enough of course. http://wmpoweruser.com/kantar-windows-phone-shows-surprise-market-share-growth-in-december-2015-in-u...

Should anyone wish to contact her btw. http://www.parliament.uk/biographies/lords/baroness-harding-of-winscombe/4324 Oh, and yes, she is a Baroness, so the proles in the Home Affairs Select Committee will have field day. I can sense Keith Vaz salivating over the opportunity as I type.
-
Don't worry Roy, she'll be there until she's wheeled out in front of the Home Affairs Select Committee. After which she'll be let go, with a nice little golden handshake. There needs to be a root and branch security assessment of that company - something that should have been done a long time ago, and she is the person…

https://www.getsafeonline.org/get-safe-online-week/ Oh, the irony.

I think that is fair comment. Sean is not necessarily asking YV to fix this - just who is responsible. Having said that Sean, if your contract is with TT I'd at least give them the chance of answering the question, if you haven't already. While it can take 24-48 hrs for the OCE's on the TT community forum to respond - they…

Well I'm still here. Reached an "agreement " with Talktalk after they replaced my HG633 router with an exact same replacement. This was as bad - if not worst, than the original one. Threatened to leave, and to appease me they have stumped up some cash towards a replacement after-market one I've selected ( TP-LINK TD-W9980…
-
Hi all. Yep, Roy is right. I had this conversation with the Openreach guy when the Fibre medium was set up and the new router commissioned. I wanted a backup in case of issues with the new one (ha - like I have now). Can't be done. Seems this new Huawei HG633 is a nightmare. TT offered me a replacement ............with an…

Nothing yet on my DN370T
-
Thanks for the post VM. It gives some out there another option. Tempting though it is, what does this give a TT owner like me over and above the DN370T? Has anyone done a full back-2-back? Personally I would be somewhat reluctant to invest in more Huawei h/w. I currently have a sluggish YV box, and as you will see from my…

For what its worth I actually got a reply today from a TT OCE today. I don't know if it explains why it needs a extra 6 months, but here it is, and to be fair they did actually respond.Youview use Humax as their Set Top Box manufacturer. BT switched to using Humax boxes, so they get the software first. As we use a…

Hi Roy :) - I'm happy to answer VM's question - its a fair enough one. @VM, The response, or lack of, will help me make a decision of what direction to go when it comes to both ISP and viewing apparatus. At the moment I have a tediously slow, unreliable Huawei DN370T (that recently has started to fail recordings despite a…
