How very annoying. I've been loyal to youview for years and years, and most definitely one of the main reasons was the remote record functionality. Sitting on the train in the morning, viewing the excellent Radio Times Discover app (which I think is being discontinued also - just about works!).....and then switching to the…

Hi I'm also wondering if I should wait for this, or simply buy (pre order) the New Firestick. One aspect of that decision would be the quality of the streaming. I've never quite understood if the Prime apps that are on the TV, (and eventually the Youview box hopefully), will stream at the same quality as the native…

Scott - I've not got discover back as yet....do you have any idea if this is coming back? Steve
-
Youview now spell it "New: Progr............."
-
Maybe it's where they got the inspiration for the New Gen design from then........
-
Roy, I'd be interested in your though process as to why you think this is such an issue. People (like me) find this thread through a Google search. A Google Search that was borne out of the deep frustration and annoyance of the 'new gen' update. Personally I couldn't give a monkeys about what the thread was called.....I…

I have to admit thar until tjis update i thought it was humax sortware accessing the youview content. Isn't that the way it works wirh say a sony tv. Dont sony write the software!? Does it mean thst freeview are going to take over all freeview boxes? Why is it different with youview?

Mine is also not stable or quick. It's very very laggy. I've already mistakenly deleted a couple of programmes in the series list, because it looked like the first delete request was not accepted - it was and so I ended up deleting two episodes (and I've done that twice now). Also, the other day all my pictures disappeared…

Every few months I sit and purge (i.e. delete) old recordings in order to manage space. This would be due to over zealous recording, mistakes, and simply deleting 'watched' stuff. OMG - how painful is that process now with the new MyTV format. 1. It is so difficult to zero in on 'watched' - especially in series mode. Into…

Just some thoughts - but I'd never really been bothered (i.e. annoyed) about the changes to BBC iPlayer....so I went back and looked a bit more critically after this Youview upgrade (which I am still struggling to get comfortable with) The main landing page is very image heavy - but crucially a) the images are bigger…

Chuckle - I also bought Youview for my Nan......as it *was* so easy to use......seems a significant proportion of Youview past revenue went to the "Golden Oldie - Indirect" sales channel. Shame these guys are never gonna work out how to register on this forum to feedback.......

According to this - "YouView 2.0 is cloud-based, which has big implications for content and recordings, not least the fact that it’ll allow you to view your stuff on mobile devices " That sounds interesting. Does anyone know what it means? Does it mean that I can view Live TV / On Demand on my Phone Does it mean I can view…

The comparison I am trying to make is that a good UI design (be it web, device, set top box) gives the user the option of how to display the data. Even on your PC you can switch your file lists to 'tiles' - which really only makes sense for pictures (in my mind). With the layout changed to what is has now, there is far too…
-
How about the results on Google (Shopping)....
-
How about an option for 'list' or 'tiles'....a fairly common UI pattern these days........
-
True....and some might say an unnecessary number of key presses.....but hey ho.......
-
Phew.....Thanks......
-
Scott - from your comment I presume you are the only one who sets recordings. Do you live alone :o)
-
Has there been any hint that this will come? I can see plenty of disquiet about it on these forums For me this is a very similar issue to the modern website design which seems to prioritize massive pictures, loads of white space and scroll scroll scroll over any concise content.....

No "Discover" or "Browse" I'm gutted. As far as I was concerned the single most useful feature of the Youview 'old' interface was the ability to browse by category and then subcategory. So.... Comedy.....then Improv....and bingo I found a load of old "Who's Line is it anyway" buried on C4"..... How about Lifestyle >…

TV Recording Lists - why pictures??? The new format is terrible. It's so difficult to easily scan - the images are really distracting and really don't serve any purpose. Moreover, the way it's been implemented means there's actually less information on the screen. See below. Apparently I recorded something called "The…

Agghhhhh. Did anyone actually look at the recordings page. A total mess. The text for each tile is truncated to about 15 to 20 chars. Most....no ALL of my listings do not show the full title. Welomce to the world of .............

Its bloody aweful. A total mess.

Interesting that too high a signal strength is a problem !

A bit like sky if you've ever used that. You log onto youview.com, and then go to the programme planner and hit record. However, I've just realised as I write that that there is no concept of a user-id for youview...so presumably that's a big deal to implement. Maybe the answer is for them to develop a windows app, that can…
-
Hi Phil Thanks for your response. Are there also plans to allow you to record via youview.com. Thanks Steve
-
Hi Phil. Is there any progress on this issue. I note your response was 2 years ago. I have just binned Sky in favour of a second Youview box, but it seems, as per the original question, that I can only pair my iPhone with one of the boxes. This is a major disappointment to me - even if the request was sent to both boxes it…
