Seconded but thread drift is inevitable on any forum and (sorry Sarah and Phil) there's no substitute for active moderation to split, merge threads etc to keep topic focus. This is a typical illustrative sequence: - Thread starts about item X - A subsequent post says "X isn't as good as Y" - Another post says "Ah but…

Why don't you PM Roy and he'll explain why to you. Or you could PM me and I'll explain direct. And then you can publicly apologise when you realise there is a very good reason

Ta for the BT rewrite information. I'm a bit wallied to comment further because I did agree to keep my discussion with BT private And I reckon that Act would hold sway but it would be expensive to pursue it. Although the 12 month potential sentence for reckless impairment might focus a few minds. I'll PM you the BT…
-
Taking those points in turn: a) I don't know that BT did have to rewrite their code if it worked co hosted with Old Gen. b) (BT swap out of DTRT-1000s): We know that sometimes they will and we know (you'll recall I posted the conversation record) that sometimes they refuse as a first tactic. c) Tort and possibly under…

So back on topic. That we waited 6 weeks from 29.27 for a minor bug fix in 29.36 what does this indicate for fixing the real issues of Next Gen?
-
So? Still likely to be a very large number. The point is BT would have expected/contracted YV to leave enough platform resources for BT TV to run. Is the software overlay the same on retail boxes? I don't know but I do know what BT told me in confidence and I'm sure you can join up the dots to work out what that was.
-
Thanks Roy.
-
Roy please edit your posts above where you insert your words in italics into quotes of my posts. Over at the BT forum someone wrongly believes that your nasty words so inserted were posted by me.
-
No, where do you get that idea from? YV wrote the code that should have left at least the same resources headroom as Old Gen did for the BT code (even on DTRT-1000s). So did it? And I'm unaware that Microsoft changed their dev language for Windows 10 so not sure what point you are making there.
-
Well ask yourself a few questions: - did Old Gen overstress T1000s? Nope - do new generations of software techniques tend to come with increased demands on the platform? Oh yes - did YouView or BT develop Next Gen? YV - if something walks like a duck and quacks like a duck is it likely a duck? Yes Now we don't know…
-
Oh look personal abuse and false accusations YET AGAIN I guess you don't want to understand that someone might want to have BOTH Sky and a YouView box with Old Gen functionality. Or is it that you really hate being reminded about the farce your magical mystery tour became? Now to your next false point. Just when did I…
-
Wasn't me that posted a false point (wasn't you either Roy), you seem upset that I refuted it. Only a fully paid up member of the YouView magical mystery tour would suppose that 29.36 was functionally superior to Old Gen so that comparison with Windows is false. No one has the right to functional upgrades but similarly no…
-
So Windows 7 first released in 2009 is still going to get security fixes through 2020 and has had no enforced functional degrades. You sure you want to continue this sus line of comparative defence for YouView? And please provide evidence of any proactive advertising, YouView/BT posts here or indeed any customer contact…
-
Well to point out the obvious, Microsoft provide support for much much longer than that and I challenge you to find a company that sent out a compulsory software update that stripped functionality and then just abandoned the customers.

Update of the latest detail configuration that still shows this fault DTRT-2100/84B08500 Manufacturer S'W : 29.36.0 Component S'W: 3.3.82 (717bc8) Platform Config: 4059 ISP Config: 2143 (ie BT) Auto Standby: 12 hours (has occurred on other settings) Standby Mode: Always Ready (has occurred on other settings) Antenna Out:…

It didn't

My box has just updated to this build (29.36) on the first time I tried the manual update. Hoping this fixes Live Pause, will report back
-
I believe this may answer your question: https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/BT-Youview-box-and-Humax-PVR-controller-clash/m-p/1222495#M10940
-
Yep So does hitting the Play button give "the obvious result" Well at least on 29.27 they do. What software version are you on Ian Brown?
-
Ha ha Embarassingly? we have powered up discs running for: - Her Sky HD box (murder mysteries and US fantasy shite) - My Sky HD box (football, motor sport and more football) - YouView 2100 (free to air stuff mainly news) - Ye Olde ancient TiVo (back up for the YouView) - Fairly old Panasonic HDD PVR/DVD recorder…
-
Yes it can be very annoying. In our case a cat will detect even the slightest noise, leap over the room and that's what wakes us up. Maybe have the YV box downstairs and view/operate it through a remote link. Seems you can get HD links now but I just use RF. It's going to be a fair while before solid state replaces…
-
A theory that fits the facts :) And which would suggest another software bug for YV to investigate
-
Well that's a theory that explains the relevant facts. The real issue surely is rate of delivery 29.27 has been in roll out for a month now and some BT Retail boxes still haven't got 28.26 after over 4 months. This suggests that whoever is hosting the roll out servers for BT needs to upgrade from the ZX80 + cassette deck +…
-
Is it region based? I'm in the SE (Heathfield Transmitter) and my DTRT-2100 updated to 29.27 immediately I first powered it up several weeks ago
-
Well it needs an ethernet link into the box but you can do that for £15 with one of those wireless extenders that also has an ethernet port. That's what I now use although the BT Powerline adaptors I used before worked well too
-
Well it's a weaker position but you could still try asking them. Their changing of subscription DTRT-1000s does seem to be a clear admission that BT at least tacitly recognise their servers were used to roll out software to your box that they shouldn't have.
-
Is it a BT subscription box? If so contact them and they should send you a DTRT-2100 as a replacement. There is a fair amount of evidence that BT know the DTRT-1000s cannot run Next Gen reliably.
-
[tempting fate mode] I haven't seen it since I turned Ad Blocker off for this site - where it was superfluous anyway Could be coincidence, could be relevant [/tempting fate mode]
-
There also this thread that covers 29.27 for BT subscription DTRT-2100s https://community.youview.com/youview/discussion/7604069/live-pause-failure-in-seen-in-28-26-and-29-27#latest It's a real fault but maybe it only affects some internal configurations
-
That is not true and perhaps you could correct your post
