  • Facilities on any machine, should cater for the most extreme of demands, not just those that are easily pleased. This all comes down to the YouView Box being launched prematurely, because of the threat of being left behind by the competition. It's catch from now on!!! Best - John
  • A little rude I think Mr RedChiz. The facility being discussed here is pretty much standard on most other comparable devices. I would hope to see it in the next update. All the best - John
  • That's because they're all Talk. Best John
  • Thanks for the info and advice. I guess it's all in the small print that I never read. I need to think again. Cheers John
  • Same here, I've now hidden all of the undesirable channels and yes, there it is, Dolby Surround and suddenly the room came alive. One thing I've noticed to my surprise, is that most of the BT Vision streamed films deliver Dolby Surround, (both HD and standard), which is great, but having taking the introductory offer on…
  • Can't agree more Sean. I can deal with the truth, whether it's what I want to hear or not, at least I know exactly where you stand on things and I am not left hanging on a load of deflective and noncommittal possibilities. Great that you got a reply, but wouldn't it have been better to have been told that it will be in…
  • My understanding is that the update supplied to BT by YouView was flawed and when, as part of the phased release, it killed some boxes, BT withdrew it, (which was quite a brave thing to do, bearing in mind all the posts that were already flying about on the Forums and the flack that would ensue), as it's better to have a…
  • Thanks for passing this on James. It must be quite a serious bug then I guess. They've told you more than they've told me, so if you get any more updates on the update about the update, could you update me please. Many Thanks. All the best - John
  • Thanks for the updated info Sean. I'm going to see if I can find any of the BT and YouView Top Guns through LinkedIn and see what they've got to say about it all. Sad state of affairs. Thanks again. All the best - John
  • Isn't there anyone who can tell us exactly when the BT YouView update will be distributed? Very frustrating! Another number is 0845 099 2910 which is the YouView Team.
  • Thanks for the explanation Keith It makes things a lot clearer for me. I do sometimes jump the gun a bit and after my post I visited the "Software Release October 2012" topic and saw that someone's box has actually failed since they updated and that's another worry in itself. I hope they fix that one before they get around…
  • Just called BT Vision and then YouView upon referral. Although I accept that the update will arrive soon (apparently), being progressively rolled out, what I don't understand is why it has to be staggered like this, when all it is is an instruction to the box, that can be sent to all boxes at once, as they are all the…
  • Any BT people got the update yet? Best John
  • Hi Martin Saw the first advert today for the new "BT Vision Plus Box", which actually looks a lot like the old box, but I guess it's the guts that are different. I can't imagine that they would be advertising the old one at this time. All the best John
  • Hi Martin - I'm with BT but I have a Humax Box, not the Pace Box that BTVision has just started advertising. I hope that I'm not going to be disadvantaged by having the Humax Box on the BT service!!!
  • Hi Andy Let's hope and believe that the YouView guys will strive to achieve the critical updates within the First Gen Box lifetime. All the best John
  • Hi Andy I'm not necessarily saying that you are wrong, but just trying to keep things in context here and I always respect people who say it as it is, because you always know exactly where you stand with them. However the YouView guys have been severely told off over the last few weeks and I think it's now time to see how…
  • I have to agree with Keith here. Yes I was/am disappointed with some feature omissions, but having expressed my thoughts on those and on the understanding that they are acknowledged and that the next and following updates will progressively deal with them, I am happy to turn around now and say that overall I am very happy…
  • Thanks for the update on the BT situation Matthew. I guess that just one more week, isn't too bad in the scheme of things. I also agree with SW in that, looking at the features that will be introduced/upgraded/improved with this upgrade, that it will satisfy all of my most immediate needs. All the best to all John
  • Hi Sam - No update here yet either and I'm London and BT. I'm sure the update will arrive by tomorrow as some have it already apparently, so it probably depends on Transmitter region maybe. All the best - John
  • Hi Keith I think that if the basic omissions that you suggested are put right in this update, that that would be satisfactory for me this time around and then to look forward to the really progressive features being added in the future. I have a few ideas there myself, that I'll broach, once the update for the 30th has…
  • Hi Je The really great thing about todays technology is that it isn't stuck, it is software/app driven and upgradeable/updateable and consumers can drive the updates to the functionality of the devices that they purchase by expressing their dissatisfaction. The weight of dissatisfaction will prioritise that focus; the…
  • Hi Martin - Yes I should have said from personal experience, as Sky's a no for me because of Murdoch and Virgin took over the Cable Company that delivered an abysmal service. I will tell you what I do like about the box though..... the ability to control the Sound and Picture synchronisation. That is top. Unlike LGs SP820…

  • Having just changed my BT Vision service to be provided utilising the YouView Box, in the main, I was very pleased with my initial exploration of the services it facilitated, until I turned my attention to editing the channel list, to remove undesirable channels and reorder the remaining channels for my navigational…
