Personally I find this new colour scheme awful. The lack of contrast on some parts of the EPG is so poor, that even though I have pretty good eyesight I've had to switch to high contrast mode (which in general looks a bit rough) simply to aid readability. It looks as though they've tried to enhance the highlighting of the…

I have a BT T2100 (v29.58.0), BT broadband (but not a BT TV subscriber), connected to the internet via TP-Link PLAs. I've had this setup for a couple of years, and normally there is barely any network traffic except when viewing programmes from the internet. In the last few days though that has changed, and there is now…

Thanks, I figured it would be very unlikely.

My screen resolution is 1280x1024. I suspect the problem is due to my having 'Scale and layout' set to 125% in Settings>System>Display. Having said that, I've not noticed any problems with any other websites with this setting.
-
You're right, you do get this issue at 110%. Sadly though I get it at 100% too!
-
The text on the tiles is a mess on my PC too.

Yes. I have my box connected to HDMI1 of my Sony 46EX723. Tonight I switched the box on, and it switched to HDMI1 but with a blank screen. I had to manually switch the TV to HDMI3 then back to HDMI1 to get a picture. To be fair, this doesn't seem to happen as often as it used to with earlier versions, but it still happens.

Not particularly. I rarely record anything on a non-HD channel, and HD are contiguous anyway. And if I do need to access a specific channel I tend to just enter the channel number, rather than finding it by scrolling.
-
Thanks, I know that, but: Hide and un-hide individual channels in the guide only Since I only use the box for recording & playback, that's not something I've ever felt the need to use. Hide individual channels from a particular category Not something I've ever felt the need to use. Continue watching next episode in a MyTV…

Having now received 29.27.0, I also find that HDMI switching has gone from being intermittently broken (in earlier versions) to completely broken. And given that I don't see any new features/fixes that are of use to me, this seems more of a downgrade than an upgrade.
-
Hmmm, I've not had the latest update, but have always found auto switching to be a bit flaky with earlier versions (even with old gen). It would work most of the time, but not always.
-
Well, at the rate they're going, I'll have died of old age by the time they get the usability back to how it was previously!
-
Hi Peter Yes, I use the EPG in exactly the same way, and agree that this change of behaviour is very irritating, and necessitates many more button presses than with old gen. Quite why they thought it would be a 'good idea' is beyond me.
-
That doesn't work for me, it just says something like there's no update available. Mind you, the problem this update fixes is pretty much at the bottom of my list of concerns, so I'm not much bothered whether it's fixed or not.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned previously, but even the dialogue for deleting single programmes is poor, in that it doesn't mention the name of the programme you are about to delete.
-
My main gripe about the EPG is that I have to press the 'i' button in order to see info about the currently selected programme. Why can't that info be permanently displayed? My Sony TV manages to do so and it makes it so much easier to use. As for 'Next Gen', the vertical scrolling when you move to the top or bottom row of…
-
The EPG has always struck me as being pretty poor, even with 'Old Gen'. Unfortunately with 'Next Gen' they've somehow managed to make it even worse.
-
I should point out that I'm not particularly keen to get tiles with pictures on, and I agree that they're an unnecessary distraction. But even without them the layout and truncated text are significantly harder to scan than a simple list.

Well you would think that, in the absence of a thumbnail, it would attempt to derive one from the initial frames of the recording itself. I'm sure it wouldn't get it right every time, but it would be better than nothing. As it is I have the lousy tile interface where 80% of the tiles are blank.
-
Well I received the Next Gen update today. Only programmes recorded after Sep 2016 have thumbnail pictures, those recorded earlier do not. I should add that this is programmes in general, not episodes within series (as per your earlier comment).
-
I agree the sliding blue box is irritating. But then the entire UI is significantly more sluggish than the old style version.
-
Having just received the unwelcome update, I find that only the first 18 of my existing 84 recordings have pictures, the rest are blank.

Dodgy caps are usually fairly easy to identify, see here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Repair-your-electronics-by-replacing-blown-capacit/
-
Ah OK, I guess that's probably the issue. A bit odd though, as it's automatically updated previously without needing to be nudged. Either way I don't see any advantages with the new UI, only disadvantages, so I'll give it a miss for the moment.
-
Yes, I understand that to be true of 27.50.0, but I get the impression that perhaps I should have received an earlier 'Next Generation' update by now? I'm still on 26.40.0, not that I particularly want it updated!
-
Still no update on my T2100.
-
Yes, you're correct, one episode of Bad Girls was enough to display the problem. I imagine it must be channel dependent.
-
I don't know whether I'm just an exception, but I don't recall ever having a clipped recording.
-
Just had the same problem with my T2100, I'd wondered if it might have been caused by the latest update. Either way, the 8 second trick seems to have resolved the problem.
