Youview seem reluctant to improve the EPG even though the functionality could be improved without adversely affecting the appearance. During the trial 18 months ago more channels and a programme synopsis at the top for the highlighted programme were suggested. It's strange that this has been ignored as there are so many…

The Radio Times lists Drama from Monday, identifying Freeview channel 20 which of course embraces youview. However, they do not show channel numbers for Virgin, Sky or Freesat.
-
First impression: it looks good. Thank you to the development team.
-
Or the youview receiver has selected the wrong transmitter for that mux. It happened to me during the trial - a couple of muxes were picked up on my Humax youview box from Hannington which has a poor weak signal at my home instead of Rowridge which is powerful. Hence dreadful blocky reception on the channels on those…

My HUmax youview box in High Eco saving (slow boot) mode takes 1 min 45 sec to boot. If your box is taking over 5 minutes then I would suggest it may be faulty.
-
I identified this during the trial and I expect other people did too. I received a strangely worded response from youview on 1st July 2012 "Thank you for your feedback regarding recording a programme midway through the timeshift feature, your feedback has been passed on to our technical team who will investigate this…

Twitter YouView retail customers interested in getting BT Sport, launching in August, should call BT to register details. https://twitter.com/YouView/status/33...
-
I agree. I'm waiting to see something on the BT website.
-
Email from youviewupdate today: BT to make sports channels available to YouView retail boxes Following last week's media launch of BT's Sports channels , the BT website said that YouView owners wanting to take up the offer “need to have bought your YouView box directly from BT”. This condition, confirmed by BT’s call…

Adrian, Good proposal - I've supported it and I'm surprised it hasn't got more support. However, I still have concerns about even limited use of Low Eco saving mode if the suggestions that the disk drive / fan keep running are true. Can anyone confirm this?
-
I agree with this proposal and I hope youview will consider it seriously.
-
My youview box is set to High Eco saving and, as far as I know, it still checks in the middle of the night. ajprice I like your idea of time controlled settings, maybe: - A time after which standby would put the box into High Eco saving, probably late evening. - A time after which the box would switch itself in standby…
-
I totally agree, Roy. and I said it during the trial: The omission of Volume Punch Through and Source AV forced me to use a Harmony remote. I wonder if/when Humax will bring out a better remote.
-
My experience exactly confirms your explanation, Roy. When I took my trial box a couple of muxes gave dreadful quality so I adjusted to minimum the variable attenuator on my powered distribution amplifier in the loft, re-tuned and problem solved. I've just taken delivery of a replacement for my youview box which had…
-
I would just reiterate what Roy and Keith have said and also, as expressed in my experience, that it was the prelude to a more serious failure.
-
I've also had my box since the trial and I didn't suffer from failed recordings until a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the Failed recordings again !!! thread, it seems there are multiple causes of failed recordings. In my case the box failed to come out of standby to make the scheduled recordings. I reported it to youview…
-
My problem was caused specifically by scheduled recordings failing to bring the box out of standby. I contacted youview support who were very helpful and, as an ex-trialist, they gave me the number on which to contact Humax. I found Humax support also to be most courteous and helpful. They are arranging to exchange my box…

I had the problem of overlapping transmitters at the start of the trial and fixed it with a variable attenuator to solve the problem (not sure if this is an ideal solution for a consumer product.) However, after months of reliable service, recently I have been plagued with failed recordings, but with a different cause. My…

When I first got my trial box, I identified this to youview as a limitation. The only other PVRs I've used without the ability to record from start of programmme you've been watching were also Humax boxes. Does the TalkTalk box also have this problem?
-
Thanks, Keith. In truth, my usage of the box is so low that I don't really need any standby PVR. In fact my recording requirement at the moment is ludicrously undemanding - just one programme on weekday evenings. I was going to try Low Eco mode as a circumvention, but from your other comment, Peter, that's not going to…
-
Today the unit would not come out of standby using the remote - the button on the front was blue but nothing came up on the television. Pressing the blue button for several seconds successfully booted the box which revealed another Failed Recording. It's just not working. Is this a hardware fault requiring a replacement…
-
This is sad. I'm trying to record just the one programme a day, Eggheads on BBC2, but my youview Humax box is just not reliable. After a a few recording failures and failing to come out of standby to record last week, it actually recorded successfully last night. However, this evening I had another another failed…
-
Until this last week, my experience was very similar to yours Keith (including even the High Eco mode except at Christmas for the same reason!). Failed recordings had not been an issue for me. I will see how it goes next week to understand whether this is a temporary blip or whether something has changed the box's…
-
I would tend to agree with you that how people use the equipment is a possible explanation for why some experience particular problems while other don't. However I really have not changed my rather limited usage - same old Eggheads recording every day which has worked fine for months. The only change I am aware of (unless…
-
My Humax youview box failed again today to come out of High Eco standby to make a scheduled recording. I had previously experienced the Long boot up / double boot up problem http://community.youview.com/youview/... but this was fixed in an earlier release. I don't know if I'm alone in having this problem and whether it's a…
-
The failure to come out of standby to record was followed by a gradual degradation in performance of my youview box thereafter, The scheduled recording the following day had a status of Failed Recording. (The only programme scheduled to record was Eggheads daily.) When I next tried to bring the box out of High Eco mode…
-
My Humax trial box is on the latest March release. It definitely picks up signals only from the correct transmitter (Rowridge) and it has definitely not been powered off since the last recording yesterday. However, Eggheads was scheduled to record at 6:00 tonight on BBC2. I brought the box out of High Eco mode standby at…

While accepting that the logos should be there having been shown in an advertisement, and doubtless they will make it look more attractive, I would prefer the emphasis to be put on more functional improvements to the EPG, such as: - increasing the number of rows from the current six - adding programme synopsis to the top…

On the same date there were apparently 40 "Informally Resolved Cases" http://www.asa.org.uk/Rulings/Adjudic... including Argos, BSkyB, BT, eBay, EE, Lovefilm, Marks and Spencer, Microsoft, Tesco, Vodafone and, of course, Youview. Surprisingly, to my mind, they all had only one complaint against them.

Glyn. I had a similar problem when I first set up my trial Humax box last year and consequently reduced the signal strength with a variable attenuator to get rid of the superfluous regions. No problems since.
