Unfortunately I can't agree with you Roy. There is a self-appointed hardcore of posters on the forum who leap on any post that is critical of YouView in any way. Woe betide the poster who responds, once taken to task. If they maintains their views, then others will predictably pile in, in what can only be described as…

First post in many a long time - and just quickly reading through the thirty-odd posts above more than justifies my decision to stop attending this forum. What a complete waste of time. If I was interested in this sort of thing I'd go to a boxing match. There was a time when I enjoyed my daily dip into it this forum - no…

Chris Thatcher - I agree - I had a 'very clever' box like that. However - when you think about it, it isn't the box that is 'clever' or 'stupid'. All computer hardware is basically 'stupid'. It's the designers of the software who make the box appear 'clever' or 'stupid'. Those adjectives should actually apply to them. Nuff…

Lists are SO yesterday....

"we just need a "few thousand" more complaints like this & things might start moving faster . . . " 'Might' is the operative word here.... Past experience suggests that this cautionary word is well-chosen.... I'm not holding my breath anyway. He who pays the piper calls the tune and most of us are paying NOTHING to…

That's interesting, Bri. Quite a few posters here have strongly suggested that those complaining are in the minority.... and should stop swimming against the inevitable tide.

I understand your anger, Scott, but I notice you are a fairly recent arrival on the forum. Welcome. Some of us have been here for a few years, and, truth be told, at times have felt much the same. However, I may just be an optimist at heart, but I do see signs that things may change. For all the frustrating ill-thought-out…

And I'd add that this forum would be a more pleasant place to visit if we tried not to attack each other on a personal level. And before someone else points it out - yes - on occasion - I have been guilty of it myself. As I said before, I believe we all want the same broad end result, but inevitably won't agree with…

Sorry Visionman. You know the British tendency to root for the underdog. I just thought I'd bring a bit of balance to the 2-on-1 fight. Not that this is the first time I've witnessed such exchanges on this forum recently. Generally with the same combatants piling in....

There you go, Grunders. You've been called a troll and arrogant. How dare you disagree with anyone? How dare you stick to your guns against the forum cognoscenti? Just accept that you are wrong, if they say you're wrong, and back off, eh? People will start to think that they can say anything on this forum!

Unfortunately, whilst I agree that the French are particularly fond of revolting, even a poll would not be helpful. 1. In order to hold weight a poll needs a 'representative' sample. No way does this forum satisfy that. 2. Despite the YouView team having researched the best vehicle for this forum, and decided on Get…

Chuckles - man after my own heart.... ;-)

Oh - and nothing to forgive, VM - my reference WAS a bit obscure.... ;-)
-
"but the mood on here is very dark at the moment. Or just I am." Understandably so, VM. Those who have doggedly supported YouView over many years - and you have been one of the chief stalwarts who has loyally done that - must feel a sense of betrayal (and I did consider whether that word was too strong, and decided it…

Hi SteveK. I take issue with none of your points, but it is worth pointing out that Humax have absolutely zero responsibility for the YouView user interface, so it is somewhat unfair to target them with your justified anger. The design and rollout of the YouView user interface is 100% the work & responsibility of YouView.
-
"No, nothing of the kind, CW. As this is a completely new platform that isn't finished." I was attempting to be humourous/ironic VM relating to your very relevant video link. When the 'priests' were unhappy with Deep Thought's answer - 42 - it offered to create an even more powerful computer for them....
-
To be perfectly honest, Redchiz, I don't seek your support.
-
Surely, VM, you are not suggesting that the current YouView box designs its successor, are you?
-
As my mother used to say when I was a kid - "If they jumped over a cliff, would you?". Justifying poor user experience by referencing other kit is, IMHO, not sensible. If you followed that to its end point, every box could descend to the worst functionality out there. Surely, if "none of the other boxes" provide a…

Higgs boson walks into a church, and the priest says, "I'm sorry we don't allow Higgs bosons to come to churches." And the Higgs says, "But without me, you can't have mass".

I was not quoting your words to someone else Roy. I (admittedly belatedly) responded to your response in the sub-thread below where it appeared, and specifically addressed you by name, which I would have thought made that clear. I was purely suggesting that another 'informed' person, like yourself, could have a different…

You are so predictable Redchiz. I fully expected that attack. 100% consistent - not just with me, but everyone who voices criticism of YouView. How to turn a previously acceptable forum quite nasty. Let me think... - who said to someone else who criticised YouView recently ...? "Whoa, if we could leave the "hapless idiot"…
-
"Your opinion, and that of anyone who Likes your postings, is woefully uninformed then. Have you ever coded for a living? If not, you should not malign those who do; and if you have, then you should know very well what can happen between intention and execution." I am informed Roy, as I not only coded for a living, but…

If you say so, Redchiz.

"we like to think that YouView acted on our feedback on this occasion...." even though it did take them 5 years. And that raises a very good point. No doubt there are those who argued at the time, when the majority of us were pleading to go to the earliest recording, that "some people want to go to the most recent...." And…

If you say so, Redchiz. However, the original post at the top of this mini-thread was by Andrew, and I am now posting the tenth sub-comment under it. In all honesty, I saw nothing wrong with his original post - somewhat humourously describing his current experience with the NextGen update. (gave me a chuckle, anyway...) I…
-
I take it that you leapt on me ironically, Redchiz? Four minutes after I posted the above.... Do you not agree with me?
-
I think that each person speaks from their own experience. I, for instance, am quite happy with the speed of my updated box, experiencing no NextGen slowdowns. However, the last thing I would do would be to suggest that because that is my experience, then anyone saying different is in any way misguided. Nor would I say…
