@kodikid the small difference is the T4000’s we’re available before BT brought in the ‘rent a box’ scheme where you never now actually own the box (of course you could pay the non return fee but even then I think there is some small print that says it still isn’t actually your property). So T4000’s could legitimately be…

@Roy is that from BTTF lol
-
@roy I am  @Chips2 I know it isnt much help but I have had a pro box for quite a while and there have been quite a few issues with the Wi-Fi but the Ethernet has always been fairly solid. In the time I have had mine I have only had a couple of times it became unresponsive although the software since properly enabling…
-
@Chips2 I think if you look this up on the BT forum and look for a comment from Darren you will find Netflix have asked them not to implement it so that is why it doesn’t work on the box. I will link if I can find it. edit…

Have they bought the glass name from google. How did that foray go for Google 😎
-
@robotman not gone yet but After 30 June, you won’t be able to watch Discovery and Fox as part of your package (although recordings from these channels will stay on your TV box until 1 August). I wonder if the discovery app might start to make some appearances on devices.
-
They are all exactly the same as the new homescreen on every other box. check here https://support.youview.com/homescreen/ Here is a picture And the only one that might be of interest :)

Which PVR shows me BT Sports in 4k HDR Dolby Atmos that I can record to watch later please. I appreciate everyone uses things differently and you pay your money and take your choice. The VIP option isn’t actually that bad a price if you add up the three now passes (sorry membership) and boost plus the BT Sports and…

Just in case you think 4 tuners would allow you to record 4 IP channels at once. I assumed I could but then maybe that is just me lol.
-
I haven’t tried recently but I believe the four tuners is slightly misleading as you can still only record two IP channels (even with my 300mbps connection :(), you can record four broadcast channels or two broadcast channels and two IP channels. I can quite happily record the 4k channel, a HD ip channel, two…

The answer is no. You have to pay to license DV so I can’t see it ever doing that (even the PS5 doesn’t do it yet) but HDR10+ could be a possibility if it ever becomes more prominent but I would guess probably not. It does do HLG though.
-
Like all things the box will be available on its highest package to start and then on other lower packages when the highest tiers have had their chance to get one first.
-
Only the majority of Netflix content, masses of Amazon Prime content and lots of BT Sport content, not to mention some iPlayer content in HLG (which the new box delivers nicely). BT’s IP offerings (which includes its epg delivery of all the now channels) have and always will all be in multicast. Everyone complaining…
-
There is a big difference between ‘enabling it’ and ‘making it work reliably for most people over multicast allowing 4k HDR streams’. I would agree with Roy that there are still a couple of big parts to be enabled (Wi-fi and multiroom) but maybe they thought if they didn’t release something people might not believe…

@stephen I like it but would be nice to see the buttons in the dark and the non delete and stop buttons (and combined play/pause) take some getting used to.

New AND EXISTING. You have seen the new homepage have you not?
-
It is YouView ‘We’ve seen such great feedback since launching our flexible TV plans and now the award-winning platform is about to enter the next generation of viewing. We’ve got lots more planned, which I can’t wait to share with our customers shortly‘ 4k SDR channel 4k HDR channel Take your pick what you like.

Can’t we link https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2021/06/bt-uk-launch-new-broadband-tv-box-pro-with-hdr-and-wifi.html lol I got there first. Wi-fi is still an issue.

I would say plusnet always has just hung on the coat tails of what BT were doing and nothing much extra was spent on them for anything. What additional would you say Plusnet offered that they developed over what BT were offering.
-
They haven’t had a TV business for a long time, they are not in the same business as sky who rely on their tv business (it has always been a sideline to BT to ensure they could offer a quad play bundle to anyone that wants it all from BT). BT want to be a facilitator in the TV market (offer as many full TV services on…
-
They have no definite partner so they would not sign a contract tieing them in to a deal knowing they wanted to ‘get out’ of sports. It is business but if they wanted out they wouldn’t sign a deal at all. Like I have said they want to share the cost with a partner it is not about getting out of sports all together.…
-
Interesting read thanks. Only problem with it is we know how long it took them from announcing the 1080p and surround sound boost to actually releasing it so I won’t be holding my breath for 4k and Atmos anytime soon :) (almost as long as BT take to release a new STB ;))

Like most forums, you can find help if you ask but most of the topics are thoughts/arguments/ramblings and guesses. Even the topics that start of helpful tend to degrade and derail as they move along. This is standard forum fodder unless you find one heavily censored by mods ::smile: There are a few people in the know…
-
It is actually a community discussion forum and therefore people are free to put their own take on any discussion, a bit like you saying BT won’t pay and FTTP is more profitable, both incorrect statements but you are free to say it. FTTP takes up to ten years to recover costs hence the reason BT were reluctant to do…
-
@Roy I don't disagree with the fact the nothing is off the table if the price is right but I think that is not to intention (at this point). I think BT want help with the TV rights costs and thought selling a share to ITV would help BT cover some of that cost while giving a partner rights to show Premier/Champions league…
-
@Roy - you trust ‘the mirror’ to report facts lol. It leads with the headline BT to sell stake and then says it is looking to offload but a stake is also possible - shockingly bad writing. The fact that every other report is about a stake sale should tell you something. Of course any business will never flatly deny any…
-
@kodikid - can you show me your evidence to say BT is looking to ‘offload’ BT Sport. I am told they are looking to partner with someone to help cover costs and expand as they plough money into fibre. There plan has always been to be a facilitator in the TV market (or at least it is now) they don’t want to make content they…
