Fair 'nuff Visionman, but I note a lot of the posts are effectively complaints.
-
Didn't get the chance to stop the update - it just did it and effectively lft me with a heap of rubbish.
-
Paul, I have to totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I doubt they are listening to the avalanche of complaints.
-
And as the horrendous number of online complaints show, even those who CAN see them clearly, are very much against the new presentation.

The relevance to TV boxes is they are all computers (of one sort or another) used by the general public. AND, if the general public don't like them, they will not buy them. Windows Vista and Windows 8 being very expensive (for Microsoft) proof of that simple fact. I for one, will not buy YouView again.

I think the tile option could be for people who can't read?!?!?!?! Oh, sorry! - It's NOT an option!
-
If my BT YouView box was not fairly new, I would be looking for an alternative supplier.

It IS a computer - programmed for TV viewing. Unfortunately, it is now BADLY programmed.

Well said Paul Norman, my trust in YouView has gone - will not buy their product again.

When it comes to configurable options in software, have a look at Aquamail for Android. - A totally brilliant, highly configurable piece of software from someone who understands user needs. I know it's not a TV recorder/player, but it does illustrate how a good developer can provide options for users to configure the…

YES - lots of platforms allow selectable options. Is "redchiz" one of the developers? He/she seems to spend a lot of time defending something which is generating a LOT of complaints.

It obviously was NOT USER-tested adequately or there would not be fixes to the "new" version coming so soon. This is almost exactly what Microsoft experienced with Windows 8 - it was a disaster. The customers did not accept it, so they then rushed out 8.1, to ameliorate the issues.
-
Fredy, It obviously was NOT tested by USERS (who, after all are the customers!!)
-
Phil, Thank you for your prompt response, however, the way I interpret that response is as follows: 1) The impact of the new dumbed down interface was NOT properly researched. 2) It was NOT Beta trialed before release 3) No option was provided to revert to the old UI. 4) There should be options to have a text list or…

"Not fit for purpose" describes the latest update perfectly.

We too have got the latest update to the BT/YouView box and it is ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. How anyone can think that is an improvement is totally beyond us. I would love to meet the designers and give them a piece of my mind. What was a fairly simple, very usable interface is now a constant source of frustration. If I had…
