ITV Player is not working! Everything else works perfect, BBC iPayer, Demand 5, 4OD but ITV will not work from the guide menu or from the player app. If i click on a program it will go to load, then it is just a black screen and nothing happens. Please help!

Yes, all is up-to-date. In fact, the problem has only arisen since the latest update for the iPhone app.

Hi JJB. Which ISP are you with? It's working fine for me right now from a BT line.

I am unable to get the traditional method of broadband due to the distance from the telephone exchange, so I am using mobile broadband - Three. This has never been a problem in the past though, as it used to work perfectly.

Yep - I know several people who use mobile broadband with YouView and it does usually work well. The only thing I can think is that there's a problem with the particular content network (CDN) that ITV are using for YouView at the moment, when accessed from Three. Does ITV player in a browser work from a laptop or PC from the same connection?

I don't think the software update would have caused it as we only updated a configuration file for the settings menu.

Hi Kay

What make and model of YouView box, or Sony TV running the YouView interface, is giving her this difficulty, please?

And who is her ISP, and, if a YouView box , was it supplied by her ISP, or bought retail?

Hi Kay

Alas then, we can't help her here, as this Community is for YouView users :-(

But if she got the hub from Virgin (or even if she didn't, though that might complicate matters a little) her best bet is for you or her to contact Virgin, and explain that there still seems to be an issue, and see if they can help.

And if Virgin cannot be of help, to contact the TV manufacturer's helpline, or even possibly ITV themselves.

Interesting... This points to an inherent ITV Hub issue as opposed to a (YouView) platform issue/aberration. The forum is now littered with such comments.

Hi Guys.

I am on 3 with an all you can eat data package. I don't have a land line. How can I hook up my youview to the internet as a don't have a router and therefore I am unable to connect the box using an ethernet cable.

Thanks.

You need to tune the YV box, and select an ITV region if asked, before the ITV player will work.

Have you done this?

If not, try this now. But if you have done this, please give us a more exact description of how it doesn't work.

Error message? Black screen? Endless buffering? That sort of thing.

i have the problem of itv, 4od and five players not loading on youview box, on itv player it says loading, black screen with a little circle whizzing round in the top right band corner but never actually loads! 4od says content unavailable as does 5player. I have tried retuning the box and have not been asked to select a region. It worked previously before i went on holiday(during which the box was switched off) but wont now i have tried updating evrything but no difference. I am with talk talk broadband if that makes any difference and in yorkshire region. Bbc player working fine, and all work fine on my laptop!! Please help?

So comparable to, but not, a YouView problem? Does it work from your YouView box, though? You don't mention this.

Best ask HP or itv, Sandra. I'm afraid this forum is specifically for YouView boxes, which your kit isn't :-(

I use EX PAT shield and was able to access ITV player until I recently installed AVG......big mistake! I was then unable to access ITV Player - getting the message that the video could not be accessed in my area. I have since uninstalled AVG.....done a system restore etc etc and still cannot get ITV player even with EX PAT shield connected!  Can anyone please come up with another method i can try? I use a lap top as I live abroad.

AVG is a big mistake. Use Avast. But the itv Player won't work abroad, so presumably Expat Shield isn't effective any more, and itv know where you are coming from. I suggest you reinstall it; if it still doesn't work for you, talk to the providers of Expat Shield.

I do like Yo TV's TV Guide app, which lets me watch many UK TV channels abroad, courtesy of FilmOn. Or you can use FilmOn directly, but their programme Guide is pants compared to Yo TV, which can use the UK FreeView channel sequence. Just live stuff from both though, not catchup, but free, which is a good price.

Oh dear, what am I doing? I'm supposed to be telling you this is a YouView group for YouView people, and there's nothing for you here.

Still......

That looks like an Android screen to me. Are you hoping to get help with the Android ITV Player app on a forum dedicated to the YouView PVR?

AnPad or iDroid, it's not a YouView issue here, so the SEP field applies:-

For the passed week i cant get my t.v guide for ITV to work, it just says "no schedule information available" so i cant view anything!!

The helpline told me they cant do anything about it, it is a problem with ITV!

Which make and model of YouView box are you having this problem on?

Is is just the backwards EPG that does not work, or the forward one as well?

Does the box show ITV programmes OK, or are these missing as well?

I have contacted the ITV team to find out the problem.

Today i now have channel 5 on the guide but nothing on the itv channels. there are no schedule programmes at all. If i click on a channel with BBC it works fine. Im using windows 8. Im not very good with computers!

Nor are we Emma, at least not officially, on here :-)

We only deal with YouView boxes (and, shortly, YouView TVs as well - won't that be fun?), alas, so the tottering edifice of Windows and the software that runs on it is rather out of scope, I fear.

But I think you have done the right thing in contacting ITV.
